ACV block-off question

I removed my ACV and made a block-off plate of sheet metal. obviously it isn't think enough to use with the bolts. I was thinking of just re-mounting ACV with block off plate. Is this was a lot of you guys do?

ALso, I am too lazy to remove selenoids. Shoudl I disconnect them, or leave them plugged in a just cap off the lines? I have the PFC so I don;t haev to worry about check-engine light. Furthermore, if I disconnect them I don't haev to cap them off right?

Thanks

hey man i would remove the ACV, it clears up a lot of space in there. Thats some valuable cooling air space that ACV is taking up! Same with the solenoids...you could leave them in, but its really no extra work to take them out and clear up the system just a little more.

ahh, that would mean I need to make a plate out of some 1/4" aluminum or something, right now the sheet metal I used was so thin, that not enough thread on the studs.

You could use some ghetto washers, or a thick spacer around the studs.

Go to your local machine shop and have them trace the pattern onto 1/4" aluminum stock, have them cut it out. Probably charge you like $10 and its a nice custom fit. You could even have them make it out of SS or better yet titanium!

Thats why they call me Crazy Jake! Yeah, I was joking about the titanium. Although I'm crazy enough to probably do something like use titanium when it's not needed. I'm having a bracket machined out of SS to allow the fuel pump (Ultimate fuel pump) to fit correctly. The fuel pump that SR Motorsports said was "direct fit"......NOT!

You can run with your sheetmetal blocking plate and the ACV in place. Not a big deal, I did it like that for about 6 months until I got off my lazy but and pulled out the plasma cutter.

K2RD.com has blocking plates for sale, not sure if it is on there site, but I picked up one from there a week or so ago. Laser cut, come with the bolts, quality product.
