I am looking for the Turbo Control Actuator and Turbo Pre-Control Actuator on my FD. I've got these diagrams, but for some reason, I just can't see them. Can someone tell me where they are exactly? Where should I look for them? Under the car? Above it? What do I need to remove to see them?
Also, how does one test a solenoid?

There are two solenoids, and one actuator involved in the turbo controller. Since it takes both vacuum and pressure to force the actuator move quickly at 4500 RPM there are solenoidds for both vacuum an Pressure. The Vacuum solenoid is on top of the Air Control Valve just below the upper intake manifold where it begins to bend down. The Pressure solenoid is the third solenoid from the front on the lower solenoid rack. To test either of them just hook up 12 volts to them while apply vacuum or pressure to the A &B ports. There should not be any flow between A& B when there is no voltage. B and C will flow without voltage, but not when there is. The Vacuum solenoid looks different than the rest of the solenoids but it works the same way. The Turbo Control Actuator is located below the primary turbo and has two lines comming off of it. You can test the actuator hooking your vacuum pump up to the two lines that run straight up between the alternator and the coolant filler neck. Apply vacuum to the line that leads to the end of the turbo control actuator, and apply pressure to the line that leads to the side of the turbo control actuator. Either should make the actuaor's arm fully retract and hold until you release the vac/pres. If the arm sort of pulls back, but doesn't hold then you may have leak in the connecting hoses between the actuator and your vacuum pump. Hook the tester directly to the actuator at that point and see if the actuator works correctly. If not, sorry dude, call up mazda. Have fun!
