ACT or centerforce
I have heard the opposite. My friend went through 2 CFDF clutches in a summer. Now with his ACT clutch it is doing fine, clamps hard, and never slips.
I have the ACT strip/street clutch and it suits my needs perfectly. My stock clutch was slipping on 12 lbs of boost when the second turbo came on.

Several friends and I all have ACT's and love them. I've never heard anything bad about there clutches, except for the 6 and 4 pucks but those were people who tried to daily drive on them. I've heard a few stories about Centerforces breaking and slipping.
My pedal is just a tad bit stiffer the stock, can't really notice the differance.

ACT is the best choice. I'm on my second one, blew a motor and got another ACT instead of reusing it. All my friends who used Centerforce swithched to ACT. The Centerforce couldn't hold. The CF is good for daily drivign on a semi modded FD but once you go higher on power you need to go wiht ACT.
I've been using a custom street/strip one from ACT and it's been fine. Some people use the 6 puck on the street but it chatters alot and engagement is pretty rough for traffic. Not saying it's bad it does hold great but for traffic you're gonna get a popeye left calf.

I went through two centerforces in 6 months. They are the biggest POS clutch made! The ACT is a fantastic clutch. I have had the street/strip and like it and now I have the 6puck and love it too. Holds like a bitch and is pretty streetable contrary to what people have said.

I broke it in for 500 miles on the first one, then 1000miles on the second. I drag race, but back then I wasn't even that modded so thats no excuse for the clutch. Another great point to bring up with the ACT is there isn't any break in time. Just let it rip...
now the next question is...
do 6 puck "race clutches" last as long as street clutches? (given if they were driven under the same normal conditions)
is the only downside to a race clutch drivability?

And they both lasted me a very long while. Im still on the same 6puck. The steet/strip got me through almost a full year of track abuse and street racing. Over 25passes.....thats a shitload more than you'll ever see from a Centerforce...
Well my First ACT clutch lasted all of 3 weeks. All highway no racing. It ruined my thanksgiving last year and left me stranded. I got it covered 100% by ACT but I had to pay for another clutch install 3 weeks after the last one. That wasnt fun. It was on a Bone stock car. Now the car has been modded and it seems to be holding but I only have about 4k on it since its replacement last year. I will keep you informed. I do like the extra grab and the stiffer pedal than stock. I think I may have gotten a bad disc from them as they were having some problems last year with a run of them. I have heard alot of good things and so far my replacement has been fine. Sometimes I smell clutch just driving first thing in the morning. As with any organic disk you cannot slip it under high RPMS or it will Glaze over and fail. Centerforce clutches are great on many cars but I have heard little good about them for the RX-7.
centerforce = bad...my cousins CF disk shattered under normal conditions and my brother has a CF DF and i hate it.
After my cousins disk shattered he bought a ACT and I LOVE IT AND SO DOES HE!!!!! get ACT

CF vs ACT
I think pretty much this thread says it.....go buy a ACT clutch.
Once again, if you don't plan to drag race, then get the street/strip combo. I've had 3 CF duals in 3 1/2 years and I maybe hit the track 6 times a year /2-4 passes each time. I have a 6 puck ACT now and it's too hard for me. You can hear the diff and driveshaft clanging almost as you engage it. You can't hear it when releasing over 3000 rpms. But I love it for the highway - 5th gear to 3rd downshift - no slippage but I'm going to get the ACT street/strip combo over winter to save my rear.....
