might have a loose sensor. my car when started does not have the light on. but as soon as i start rolling it turns on and stays on. ive looked and cant find an issue. and honestly ive never felt the "abs" work. either in the rain, snow, or dry. just feels like normal brakes to me.

^That is not a loose sensor. That is a bad sensor. The ABS sensor is a wheel speed sensor. So as soon as you start moving and the computer doesn't get a speed signal from the sensor, it illuminates the ABS light.

The FSM has procedures for testing the ABS sensor and troubleshooting the ABS system. Download it from the sticky in this forum and get busy.

As some others have mentioned it's likely a bad/misaligned sensor but it could also be the ABS ecu located in the back hatch area. In any case I have all the sensors except the front passenger side. I also have some ABS ECUs so if you can figure out what's going on I might the have the replacement part you need.

The sensor that usually goes bad is the front passenger side because the line gets cooked by the turbo.

Good luck w/ it

Yep. ABS works by being able read the speed of the individual wheels via the sensor. If the sensor or sensor line/wire or computer isn't working properly, then the light comes on and it don't work.

check the FSM. Download it from the sticky in this forum.

It is on the hub. It has a thick black cable/wire going to it and is a pita to get off and not break while trying to get off. Soak in pb blaster and use some anti seize when you reinstall it.

Have you by chance recently changed the brake fluid?

Getting some air in the lines through the ABS system can cause this.

Bleeding the brakes to get all the air out will fix it if that is the case.

Hello, im new here, i have a 93 FD with the same problem, except my 4W ABS light is on as soon as i start the car, my mechanic checked it and said i have the front passenger side sensor gone. Can anyone help me out here on where i can get this sensor? or all 4 if possible to have them as backup?

I live in Dominican Republic (Caribbean) so dont say go to your dealearship and buy them cause Mazda here never brought the RX-7, just started bringing the RX-8 about 3 years ago. Any place i can get them online or anything?
