4 inch exhaust? Who has one? What catback are you using?

So ive tried to search for this, but 4" exhaust, isnt a very searchable term.

Anyway, so I'm in the planning stages for a 20B FD project i want to start in a couple of years. My turbo of choice, is going to be the GT42R, which ive read works very well and is perfered to use a 4" exhaust. As im sure you are all well aware, 4" exhaust components are much harder to find than 3".

What are some of you with 4" exhausts running for a muffler? Cosmetics is important to me, as I dont want the thing to look like a grapefruit launcher. Ive always loved the look of the racing beat dual tip, but that only has a 3 inch inlet. Straight pipes are not an option.

Search under my username and also under CMonakar. Chris and I both run custom 4 inch exhausts, mine with a magnaflow center section and his with Borla center and rear. Also search on streetfire for '500R RX-7,' I have lots of vids up, not sure if the audio works on them anymore though.

I have the HKS Carbon Titanium Catback on mine. I made a 4" mid pipe and then modfied the catback to clamp to the exhaust. The connection at the catback is roughly 3 5/8".

I have the 3 3/4 inch RP Race-only Exhaust by GReddy from rx7.com then replaced the 3 inch pipe with a custom 4-inch.

the piping on that is 3.75 inch IIRC, but it necks down to 3 inch to meet the main cat.

The thread starter is talking about piping diameter from the turbo all the way back.

I should mention that mine was custom made my Sean over at A Spec, it utilizes slip sleeve diesel fittings so there are no flanges at all. It's very light, next time they're off the car I'll weigh them

Same with me, I'm a 4" turbo-back with all v-band flanges. I'm using a a Borla XR-1 at the end and and Magna Flow in the midpipe. It's loud but my 42r needs to breathe...

magnaflow is a relief to hear! I have always loved the way they sound on a rotary, they seem to bring out its best in sound. Borla may be another option I havent considered.

I did a little digging, and the only 4" muffler I could find on magnaflows site, is from their race series. Is this the same one you guys are using? How does it sound?

Lastly, anybody with a 4 inch setup, do you have an rear shot pictures of your car? I would love to see that angle. I would love to see/hear (video anybody?)anybodys 4" setup, as this exhaust size kind of throws my previous experience out the window.

Ain't happenin.

Single turbos have a rear exit from the turbine so the downpipe shoots straight back. Stock twins exit out the side of the motor so the downpipe has to make a 90 degree turn.

Should of been more clear. I meant 4" from the cat back and then when the single goes in upgrade to 4" down pipe.
