ABS Computer location?

Does anybody have a pic or graphic where the ABS computer is located and how to get to it? I know it is supposed to be in the trunk area on the drivers side. After replacing my shocks and springs to a Tokico and Eibach set up my ABS light stays on. I replaced all four ABS sensors thinking maybe I damaged one during the suspension swap but the light is still on. I would appreciate any pics or description on how to get to this computer.

Thx guys!

Take off the panel and you will find it.

I had to remove the interior on the drivers side all the way in to the hatch, it is behind the interior peice that has the spare tire kit. Have you checked the rest of your ABS system yet?

It's probably your air bag module that is shot. It's on the drivers side under the dash along the right near the radio. It'll have a big yellow sticker on it. Find someone with a used one at this web page. I did and my ABS light is still off.

Not sure how the air bag module affects the ABS system, I didn't see anything about that module in the ABS wiring diagram. One other thing to check is the gray cannon plug on the passenger side of the engine bay by the ABS pump, disconect it and check the voltage of the W/R wire in that connector. It is the power for the hydraulic unit, your light will stay on if the pump doesn't see any voltage. That was the problem on my car, the terminal had corroded and broke the pin in the connector. If you don't have voltage start checking the fuses in the ABS system, next check the resistance of your wheel speed sensors. If that doesn't turn anything up disconnect the cannon plug from the ABS ecu and check the wires to the wheel speed sensors for a short, it is in the FSM which pins to check. Does the light go off after you start the car and come on when you start moving foward? Hope this helps

Check the abs line itself might be ripped like mine was.

Thanks for the replies guys!
I don't think it is the voltage or a ripped line as the light is off when I start the car. It only comes on when the car begins to roll. That is why I replaced all four wheel sensors. Also because the problem started after the suspension swap. I thought I might have damaged one.

I never heard of the airbag module affecting the ABS?

I will check for corrosion on the connector to the unit and try replacing the computer and see if that works. If that doesn't work I'll look into the airbag module.

Hey Okie, any tips on removing the plastic by the hatch? I always find there are hidden clips or screws when it comes to interior plastic. I think that is the only piece I have not removed!

Sure, it is kind of a pain though. All of those pieces lay on top of one another, I assume you have taken the bins out ,you had to to replace the rear sensors. First remove the driver side rear strut cover, then the through bolt and lift it out of the way. Next I lifted the rubber seal around the hatch where I was working; it lays over top of the plastics. Take out the rear carpet. After the carpet is out there are a few 10mm nuts that have to be removed from the base of the piece you are trying to get at. Also, lift the lid on the spare tire kit there should be a plastic pin in there, it goes through the interior piece into the body of the car, once that is done pull the piece towards the center of the trunk and then lift it over the rear strut.. After that piece is out you will be able to see the ABS ecu, it is held in by two 10mm nuts. For what its worth I did the same thing and bought a ABS ecu and that wasn't the case. Before you go get one check the wiring with a ohm meter and see if you have continuity to each wheel speed sensor. Next I would look at the ABS sensor rotor ,the gear looking things right under each wheel speed sensor, I cleaned mine with a metal brush to remove all the crap on them. After that look at each sensor and verify it lines up correctly with each rotor and that the clearance isn't too much. I think you are on the right track, the fact that the light goes out until you move foward indicates a wheel speed sensor to me although mine did it at first until the light just stayed on. If you are going to remove all of those pieces I would give Ray Crowe a call and order the new interior body clips I had a bunch that were broken or wouldn't stay put, they were pretty cheap. I have an extra ABS ecu if you need one, just pm if you want to give it a try.

I doubt the ABS computer is the problem. You probably damaged the ABS sensor wire(s) when you replaced the shocks and springs. As soon as the car moves the faulty ABS sensors are telling the computer the wheels aren't turning so it turns on the fault light.

Habu2 - yeah thanks, that is why I replaced all four sensors but the light still goes on.
