Mine lost an o-ring (block weld fixed it) at about 90,000 miles and then puked an apex seal at 98,000 miles.

I'm at 81K on the orginal motor and turbos. Good compression numbers and good boost pattern.

(knocking on wood to not jinx myself or my motor/turbos!)

There is no sure answer but on most lightly modded cars, the engine seems to last 80-100k.

BTW, I think it's pretty damn funny that half of the people replying to this thread either don't have an FD or just bought one....

Going on 9 years with my FD, last 4.5 to 5 years, making over 300 rwhp, at 334 now....engine replacements....0.

On average, from what I hear from owners, from 80000 to 120000.

91K+ and counting on the original motor and turbos. I drive it like I stole it, which coulbd contribute to the broken motor mount and fried clutch that I had to replace. Motor still feels strong though (knock on wood).

original motor went when AST broke losing coolant at 98k. Second motor went on the dyno with single turbo upgrade at 18k. 3rd Motor went on the highway when i overboosted at 1.5k, 4rth motor goin in this week. So as you can see it lasted a long time when it was stock. Now that I am putting down over 400HP at the wheels I am breaking things. And the motor is just one of them. My fault for over boosting on pump gas but these things happen when you mod the car way beyond its design. Someone will chime in saying thier 600 hp motor is fine and never breaks. Believe me thats not the norm. Most of these guys have gone through a half dozen motors after modding them. Most tuning issues but some are also heat related. I suggest buying something else if your worried about engine failure. I had a Honda CRX and it has 234k miles when i sold it. Never once had a motor fail. And it got 40 miles per gallon. Cost alot less to fix too when it did need a part. I bought my car from a College student. The car broke him and he had to sell it. This isnt the car for a student. Buy a Civic and spend your money on food and phone bills.
