about to drop a S7 engine into my S6, what to expect

I managed to score a Low km S7 motor, complete loom, ecu, turbos, greddy pulley kit and I'm gonna drop it in this weekend. I know its all pretty much a straight bolt in but I thought I would ask if there were any problems I may encounter.

cheers

You will not be able to use the loom or ECU, you will need to swap over the entire solenoid rack from you original engine, just to name a couple things that you are going to encounter.

Yea didnt the s 7's have a 16bit ecu compared to the S6's 8 bit? And the "black box" instead of the standard turbo control system.

No, it will not match up to your S6 harness, that plugs into the other half of the ECU.

I think I'm getting loom and harness mixed up. I'm guessing the harness part is the part attached to the car the loom plugs into?

Loom and harness are the same thing. The ECU has 4 plugs, 2 go to the engine, the other 2 connect to the chassis loom, that runs the coils, map sensor etc. The S6, S7 and S8 all use completely different ECU's and looms. So if you are installing an S7 into an S6 then you will need to use your original ECU, wire loom, solenoid rack, sensors etc.
