? about buying used engine. 55k orig.

I found a used engine still in the car for sale. Running, supposedly has good compression. Think this motor could be rebuilt and handle 600hp? Or am i better off buying a mazda reman and taking it apart or just buy all new? Thanks

Well assuming the coolant walls in the iron are still good it should be a straightforward rebuild candidate, although it will add time on your build because you will have to send the irons to get lapped/renitraded. I think remans are a good value because most of them have almost all new parts so perhaps if you really wanted a longer lasting engine that might be the way to go because you would be starting with near new or new parts. Buying all brand new parts is extremely expensive and really not needed but if you have the $ go for it.

Mazda reman has so so compression. Buying a new motor is probably worth it in the end. I do happen to have a 120psi motor that I may sell though. Great candidate for a rebuild hahaha. You can PM me if interested.
