About to buy.....

Would it be cheaper to find a 93 R1 with a ton of miles and just drop a new engine in it or will i end up spending more. Also if i was to buy an engine from pinaple how much would it cost to be shipped to the bay area, and if i do decide to not install it myself what is the cost of install on average?

In my opinion, Buy one with alot of miles, buy a new motor, with a nice street port on it, and do reliability mods right off. Then you will know you have some life left on it. Im not sure about the shipping, but i know most places charge around $1000 to install/remove a motor

Alright i think i might try to find one with alot of miles then. From reading alot on these forumns and the pineapple site which is the best port to get for auto x/drag racing. Also is it that hard to replace the engine if you have never worked on a FD before? K time to go use the search button for the other basic questions

I think that if youve had experiance taking motors out of different cars, you will be ok. Alot of people find a local on here that have done it before and share a few 6 packs or something, get some experiance and meet fellow 7 owners. Ive also heard its easier to take the tranny out too, it helps guide everything in easier. (all this from reading on forum, no experiance for me) I wouldnt suggest pulling a motor for the first time without someone experianced.

If you're smart and have a service manual, you should be fine either way. Just take your time, and lable everything!
