aaaaaaagggghhhhhhhHHHHH!!!! BOOOOOST!
Was the noise I made on my way home from the garage today.
So about 5 months ago I bought my FD. Standard except the alloys and exhaust and after a 2 litre N/A Celica, this felt fast. It was only after a good bit of reading that I began to realise how the turbos should be working with the second kicking in at 4,500 revs etc.
The car was still quick, no doubt about that, but it just felt a little stifled. I didn't get that kick everyone spoke about and I began to wonder if I was missing something,
I'm based in the UK and took my car down to the top guys down at Haywards Rotarty near Reading for them to take a look. 1 hour of labour later and it turns out one of the flaps that opens / shuts to let exhaust gas to the second turbo had locked shut after one of the connectors (not sure which one but think it was just a linking pin) had snapped off.
So with second turbo now spooling its like driving a different car. In fact its completely insane I've never been in something quite like it. It felt like my first time properly diving an FD. Completely an utterly mental, screaming with a massive smile on my face along the M4 all the way back to London.
Awesome.
(Cheeky plug for the guys at Haywards but to be honest they deserve it. More than anything they've just got a passion for the rotaries and it shines through in their approach and their work. Well worth the journey).

The plans are already laid for further expenditure. Last night I broked it to the girlfriend that the holiday will have to wait as an Apexi ECU is ultimately an essential part that I need to buy else the car will not run properly.

Lol I had a similar story. I purchased my car and was happy with the style and speed. Then I found out it had only been running on the primary turbo. Well the car was torn apart and the mods in my signature were done.
I almost **** my pants when the secondary came on. I called a buddy who has a stock FD and was freaking out. Is this what the secondary is suppose to be like. It was amazing!!
My only regret is not having the car longer in stock form so I could compare and appreciate the difference. I've been contemplating test driving one for sale just so I can see what it would have been like
