AAA wont tow my car....Too low

So I called AAA to tow my car today (I'm a member) and when the driver got here, he proclaimed that the car was modified, specifically lowered, and said he wont tow the car under coverage. This is fine and all....except for I haven't touched the stock FD suspension ever...its still on its stock shocks and springs.

Can someone direct me to an official website where I can prove that the ride height of my car is normal? I looked in the FSM but it doesn't really have what I need. Wiki has the all together height of the car, so I was just thinking of measuring the height up to the roof to prove its stock.

Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Call somewhere else to have it towed? Sometimes your car insurance will allow a free tow once a year, at least mine did.

I hit a curb and blew a tire in my Honda which is lowered quite a bit and called a tow place and told them how low it is. They said it could mess the bumper up which in the end didn't but I told them I didn't care either way, so they sent a flatbed out and towed it.

Well that is a sucky problem. Sounds like the driver did not want to do their job.

Minimum ground clearance is 4.5" laden.

Call AAA and report the driver. You will likely get an apology, and maybe more.

AAA has towed mine and it is definitely lowered. Never hear of that before. Buy some boards and have them available and call them back. Let them know of the issue.

sounds like a lazy ***.

my RX8 is lowered about 2", MS front bumper with very little clearance and the tow hooks are covered by the bumper. my tow guy didn't give me any sass over it, just had to use some boards to get it onto the bed.

sounds like he may have experienced some ricer, who's bumper fell off and got lip over it in the past. a simple warning and a yes or no answer should always work.

The only way I have my car towed is on a flat bed truck.
The old way of just lifting the front is criminal.
What type of truck did he have?

Did you have the ***** to call AAA back and complain and ask for another?

When you call them, you need to specifically ask for a flat bed.

I was told the same thing last year even though they've had no previous problem towing my car numerous times. After a chat they agreed to cover the cost of any future tow but will not use their own trucks.

After 11 calls and 2 days off work AAA finally founda different shop to tow my car at no cost...the driver came by and brought up a good point. My car was in the garage and didn't start, maybe the first guy just didn't want to push the car. I'm really surprised with AAA, not sure if I'm going with them anymore.

Thanks for your suggestions guys

Looks like AAA is now run by AHs.

I have great luck with AAA if I call and specify that I need a FLAT BED if I am towing anything sporty.

Also, if the driver ever starts to give you issues about not wanting to tow the car, simply remind them you are signing a waiver which releases them of any liability if damages occur. I have never been refused a tow after I remind them of this. Also, AAA has never damaged any of my cars, but they aren't slammed.

Hope this helps.

I did ask for a flat bed. The issue was that AAA doesn't cover the wooden planks to get the car ONTO the flat bed without scratching (my car is stock height and didn't end up scratching anyways). He offered to tow it at my expense, but since I already paid for a AAA yearly membership, I saw no point of paying more for the service.

The second driver was much more helpful and had NO problems getting my car onto the flat bed. It just required a little pushing to get it facing the flat bed. And I bet the first driver was just too lazy to do any pushing. Its the first time I encountered this problem myself, despite having been towed by AAA many times before.

It's the tow truck driver who has the problem. You should have called up AAA right in front of the guy and reported him. They should have sent another truck from a different company.

I've had the same experience.

Sounds to me like he wanted to get paid twice, once from AAA and once from you. You should report him. That is some shady stuff right there. It should not cost extra to put 2 pieces of wood in front of the car so they can do the job they were supposed to in the first place.
