I can get to the rears, but I can't get a good hold of the front 2 plugs with the elbow on. Pulling off the elbow adds a grand total of 1 minute to my plug change. For me, I'd much rather do that then learn to be a contortionist to get ahold of those front plugs.
My breakup was happening near redline as well (usually where ignition breakup occurs).
Try the 9's all around, and see how you like it. If for some reason you don't, then just switch back the next time around. It's not that difficult. I mean, we arent talking about swapping engines here...
Wow, how many times can this be rehashed? Anyway has anybody ever considered running 8s and 9s? I have... Anyway there is lots of info on my site about plugs including a dyno that shows how much power bad plugs can rob.
well im back guys.buy the plugs the same day i start the thread but i have no time to post . i buy all 9's car runs perfectly , starts up very well and i run it at town and runs good.i noticed that car runs a little bit more richer and when let off the gas backfires very hard but runs great .
7's and 9's are for guys that run close to factory boost levels... Pettit and Rotary Performance say to run 9's if running 14 - 15 psi of boost. Less chance of detonation.
Sure the 7's have a slightly better idle and will not foul but if you drive your car the way it should be driven you will not foul your plugs. 9's also take a little more time to warm up. I have been running 9's for almost 3 yrs.

I've never had any problems with the 9s fouling out and i only do city driving. I start the car and move it and turn off the car. I usually do this a few times at work and never had any problems. The idle was the same as with the 7s and 9s. Changing the plugs from the bottom is easier and better since you dont lean on the fender and less likely to scratch the paint. Plus i do it at work on the alignment rack, so its pretty fast. The best ratched to use to take out the spark plugs is a stuby 3/8 ratchet with a flex head.

People say that the colder plugs will foul faster without "spirited" driving (i.e. track stuff). I do run all 9's on my car and it is open track driven. I did not notice a problem with cold starts or idling when I switched to all 9's.
If you are fairly stock and only drive the car on streets/highways, there is no real reason to run all 9's. Just run the stock 7's and 9's.
You can try all 9's and see how your car feels. If you have a different idle and your car seems sluggish, go back to 7's and 9's.
ok time for another dumb question... what about ngk platinum? or iridium? (i just saw an ad for them)
i went to ngk's website and saw that they make platinum plugs for the FD. are they worth it?

It may answer your questions.
I changed my plugs last night and Steve Kan at Gotham changed them last. They were all 9's. My car is stock except for a downpipe. I have noticed no problems. I don't run the car hard except when its a track event.
