Why would you spend $400 on 99 spec lights when you can make your own for about 50 bucks

i personally got the 99 spec tails simply because i want everything on the car to be oem spec.
but then again after looking at some of the converted tails on the forum, you cant even tell if theyre real or not unless you stand right next to it.
but no, im not going to sell mine either way..im happy with my decision

I started with a converted pair of tail lights.

Then my car was side swipped in a parking lot & one light was damaged.

Insurance covered the replacement (99 OEM) & now I had one converted light & one OEM light.

Only way to tell the differance was at night when both were lit up. The converted one had slightly smaller offset inner circle.

Pitched a bitch & got them to buy me the other side to match.

Every single 99 Spec' tail light home mod , the light bleeds through, circles are too small.
Sorry but you cannot replicate such an OEM peice. If your gonna get that look, get it done right. If you can't dish out $400 for a pair of OEM tailights. Don't complain.

don't tell me you can't tell the difference...

that fd in the red just modded his rear tailights incorrectly. if you do it righ light will not bleed through.

You have no clue as to what you are talking about................

They are virtually THE SAME. I compared my 93 converted lights with the 99 OEM lights & ALL the makings on the lens were the same.

I sent my 93 lights off to a forum member in Florida & he did a fantastic job. The blackout template was identical with the raised seam.

As I mentioned above. the only differance is when you have one of each installed. Then, only at night, with the brakes lights on could I see a ever so slight differance.

If anyone had a pair of either installed & I would bet you $1K you could not tell the knockoffs from the real thing.

That is a fact!

For my money I would pay to have someone convert my lights.

If someone else is paying, by all means, get the 99 OEM lights.

As you can see they are not $400 a pair, more like $550 + shipping

I'd do the conversion, but my tailight has a burn mark or something from the previous owner... so if I'm going to go ahead and change my lights, I may as well buy new ones. Thats my reasoning anyways.
