99 Spec Front.. Finally.

Finally got the turn signals in today, so it's basically done. I just have to mount them and wire them.. and then put a few more bolts here and there into the front bumper.

Had a friend buff the car out yesterday and clean it up for me.. took some pictures today when the turn signals showed up.

Total cost was around $1500.. all Mazda parts, besides the turn signals.

Car looks good. I think your shock are worn. The front looks really low

That Tempo is hot

I thought it was near $3k for the bumper, parts, lip, turn signals, adapter, etc. (Maybe the fog lights too...)

Was it $1500 for the front bumper, lip, turn signals, and all parts needed to be put on...before paint?

Nonetheless, beautiful car. The front lisence plate holder keeps the car legal (at least here in NY) and disrupts the front from being so "Happy" looking so I'm down for that.

Is your car lowered (yet)? It looks like my FD, pretty low in the front but the rear has quite some more gap....

The front is supposed to be like that.. the grass just kinda makes it look a lot lower than it is. It's the same height off the ground as it was with my stock 93 front end and R1 lip. The rear struts are blown but the fronts are fine. I have Tein S-Tech springs all around.

And I drive that tempo more than i drive the 7.. 186k miles and still ticking.. and the a/c works!! RX7 = no a/c = i don't drive it during the day much .

Well.. I got the bumper and reinforcement bar for $900 new. Turn signals were $180, paint was $250. Lip was $200.. uhm.. Random nuts and bolts are negligible. So the total was like $1530 rounded. I didn't buy the fog lights.. but I don't know that I'm going to.

Thanks, and yeah the main reason I went with the plate holder is.. #1.. we have front plate laws in ohio. My vanity plate is coming soon (1 SLOW 7) And without it I think it just looks goofy.. way to happy--almost rx8 like. I used to hate the plate holder but the more and more I looked at it the more I loved it and couldn't live without it.

And about the suspension.. I'm running stock struts (rears are blown) with Tein S-Tech springs. Ordering Tokico struts soon, I have to save though as this bumper ordeal set me back a bit.

His car has to be lowered. Look at how low his sides are. He's not running sideskirts either. IMO it would be nicer to remove the lip off the 99 spec or raise the height of the car and run sideskirts (to match the height of the 99 spec)

I also like the liscence plate holder (keeps the car legal in hawaii), decreases the chance of being pulled over. Also maintains the "stock look".

Looks great though

Yeah, I really want some sideskirts soon but I'm broke for now . Oh.. and the car looks RETARDED with no lip on it.. trust me.. I just got the lip last week, and the bumpers been on for a good month and a half.

LOL What? He doesn't need to take the front lip off, sideskirts or not. And he certainly doesn't need to raise his car any more...wth...

He's got suspension issues, just fix that. Any stock bodied FD with a 99' spec front end (w/ lip) will/should be fine....it came like that in Japan for pete's sake! Besides, FD's without a lip like R1 or 99 Spec look horrible!

Cloead: Could you PM where you got all of the parts? I didn't know it was that affordable, that's HALF of what I figured when I shopped for it way-back-when...!

Your car looks good Cloead. I plan on getting a 99spec front bumper as well and have been trying to decide whether to keep the R wing or get the 99spec wing. Your pics helped me out.

Thanks. I really never had a taste for the 99 spec wing.. thats why I'm just sticking with the R1 wing. I was gonna go wingless, but now I like it so much more with the wing.

Without sideskirts, the front bumper is lower than the sides because of the lip. IMO it looks somewhat strange. The feed style sides looks great and evens it out. Suspension issues? his car looks dropped to me. Maybe its just because its on the grass, but there's no way it would sit that low unless he has it lowered for pete's sake! I guess it's just my opinion that its too low (Its probably just sunk into the grass).

It must have really been a long time ago, because the rx7store price hasn't changed much for 2 years or so (I believe).

This is a replacement for the stock 93+ RX-7 Front Bumper. This kit includes the Front bumper,'99 Spec turn lamps, reinforcement bar and Front lip Spoiler. This is everything you need to attach the new front end to your car

$1,430.00

Okay, maybe it is just you. Again, this is how the car came from the factory in Japan. Same front bumper, with the same lip. YES, it does hang slightly lower thand the stock sides do, but that's because it's a lip, its supposed to look attached to the bottom of a bumper. It isn't and can't be *that* bad. And perhaps you are missing sight of the plastic extension that sits under where the "side" of the car ends, because its probably near the same depth (within an inch) of the front lip.

I'm just saying, there's no reason to take off the front lip, or lift the car. His car looks dropped? Sure, in the front,...given the lack of space in the wheel well and the grass, but have you yet to look at the rear tire and the gap around it compared to the front?

Oh.. and the front end is higher now. If you look close in the pictures the lip doesnt meet perfectly with the bumper in the center. I guess the people at the bodyshop curbed it or something. I re-attached it, with bolts (!!) now. It's a little higher. Wired up the turn signals and got them screwed in. What a pain in the ***, the bolts are impossible to get to on those lamps. I'll take another picture tomarrow with the lamps on.
