With the mods you say he has, you should be able to take him stock. DSMs are fun cars to mod and they really respond well to those mods but a lot of people tend over estimate them. And no, they won't run 12s after $1000 worth of parts. You can get them into the 12s fairly easily, but it's gonna take more than $1000. Just watch out when they swap out the turbo.

Im positive its the stock turbo. I know the kid personally and he thinks he can run 20+ boost on the stock internals and fuel system and be completely fine.

In my car club 7 of the cars are TSI AWD Turbo Talons. They arent anything to thinhk lowly of.. from a roll they suck.. hands down.. from astop they will eat your *** up on the street.. trust me. They can run 22lbs if they have race gas and a rewired fuel pump (free mod). One of the best bang for you buck cars.. thats why im buying one asap =] It will be my RX-7's next best mod, a beater.

As it's already been said probably. DSM's can be sneaky. You have the Ricers and then you have the mean DSMs. Since you aren't in the car when he is running the boost, you don't know what gas he is running, and how much boost he is running. Also You can't tell the size injectors from a glance.
All I'm saying is that alot of people want to put them into the class of Integra, Civic, etc, but I know of quite a few that will surprise you. Good luck.

Dont get suckered into a race by something that looks like this. Sleeper This is my car and it looks bone stock with the exception of the huge front mount. Front Mount The car makes over 450 to the wheels at 27 psi on c16. Check out the majestic wheel gap of the stock suspension, the super cool stock wheels and other factory garb. The more I look at the wheel gap, the more I want to go blasting across a field.

Even if he is on the stock turbo and he has the least bit of driving ability he should eat your lunch out of the hole. You should easily be able to run him down though before the end of 2nd gear. The stock T25 on the 2G is worthless. It will spike up to about 18 psi but cant hold more than about 14 at redline. It really sucks ***. I dont care how much other performance crap he is running. If you lose to a 2G on the T25, you should sell your car and go hide in a cave. A stock T25 on a 75 shot will probably end you though.

With a good driver a T25 powered 2G AWD with FMIC, full 3 inch and boost controller plus a 75 shot wet will run 12.6-12.8 and I have the timeslips to prove it from the previous owner of my car. He ran those times about 2 years ago in Ennis. TX.

Also, the guys that think the AWD's are slow up top need to be on the lookout for some of the hardcore DSM'ers running the TRE spec gearboxes. They are going to suprise you, but there are only a few of us running them. Happy hunting.

jeff
