It's normal for the DP to be hot and for the coolant

The series-6 (92-95) was the only version to get the "pre-cat"

Series-7 (96-98) + series-8 (99-02) had better ECU control thus didn't get them.

You really need to find out why it was in limp mode (do pre-16bit ecu's even have limp mode?), Resetting it is all well and good - but you definitely need to find the reason. Error codes? I can only suggest you take it to a good mechanic - there obviously seems to be an issue with the car - no one here is giving you a diagnosis as it is pretty much impossible from the limited information you have provided.
