93vs94 Tranny
i own a 94 FD and my Tranny is OUT! but i found a 93 Tranny in the Junkyard in pretty good shape with only 60k miles on it. will this fit my 94 FD? or is their any performance difference, fittin problems, etc...... my problem on my tranny is the 5th gear Synchro is out and my Reverse is Out also.. its gona cost me like $400 to fix that, and the 93 tranny is sellin for a $100 , but just wanted to make sure it would fit my car ok.

What makes you think that the synchros aren't out on the junk yard dog? By the time you do all the labor to find out, you would have been better just fixing your synchros -- am I missing something? I may be mistaken but I don't think the parts specific to the synchros are that expensive.

The trans is the same, there is one change though. On the drivers side of the trans at the very end there is a little aluminum part held on by two bolts. Remove it off your trans and put it on to the other one. This part has a steel plunger with a small coil spring around it. The spring is slightly stiffer for 94+ cars, it slightly reduces the chance of missing the 2-3 shift.
For $100 I'd give it a try.
Jim, the syncros might not be that expensive but the labor to install them is.

Yes I am.
According to Mazdacomp there was no upgrade of the shift select spindle, yet I used the part number I got off the Big list (don't have the part number handy) and I noticed a big difference in the effort required to get it over to 5th from 2nd. I've still missed a couple shifts (only while racing) but it is a big improvement.
I don't think the shift select spindle wears out, can't be positive though. It only a spring pushing on a plunger. $26 IIRC from Mazdacomp.
