My 1993 Mazda Rx-7 wont start up. I returned from the Marine Corps late in 2008 and decided to take her for a spin. When I went for that spin, I went pretty fast, and once I got back into town the rpm's starting to bounce up and down. It did this for 2/3 days. I was coming home and down shifted to 2nd and the car died on me. My dad and I took it to a local mechanic after looking it over ourselves and we and the mechanic can't find the problem on why it wont start. There was no smoke coming out the exhaust when this happened. Is this is seal blown? Something with the fuel? or what? if anyone could help point me in the right direction I would appreicate it...thanks

Start with a quickie compression test using a piston engine compression tester:
