'93 Rx7
Im new to the fourm and I was wondering how reliable a RX7(looking at '93 RX7 automatic) is, compared to like a Civic?(this would be a daily driver) I dont want that to sound stupid or nothing, but im trying to talk my parents into this car, and they dont think it would last as long as a honda. I am not going to be fixing the motor or anything up, just about looks(for now). VeilSide C2 Body Kit and wheels. My parents are stuck thinking it would be like a hot rod?
Let me know your opinions......ThankYou

Those links should have basically all the information you'll need.

A RX7 for your parents, who are you kidding! You want it for yourself don't you
Not knowing much about your parents (age, mechanical knowledge and ability), I am guessing that if they are not very handy, they would be better off w/ a Honda.
Also, if they are considering a Civic, they probably don't need the extra power and handling that a Rx7 provides.
Reliability of a RX7 stinks compares to a Civic. My 14 yr old Buick is more reliable than my 8 yr old RX7. That should give you an idea. If you want a car to be trouble free for years, get something else.

The RX-7 is a VARY high matinace car. In 3 years of ownership and 20k miles you might spend 10 thousand dollars on repairs. It's a hard car to start driving. Your best bet is to start with a car more or less like a Civic and study about the RX-7 before you decide to get one.

I cant tell you to search lol. Anyway, to answer your question, your parents are right. RX-7's dont last as long as Hondas and are less reliable. They wont be a good daily driver so you'll need a beater if you get an RX-7. If you dont want to mess with a new engine, forget about it. Finally, dont just go for looks when it comes to cars.

unless you are wealthy, you should not look at a 7 without getting a very good after market warrantee in case the engine or transmission blows. The car will probably break sooner than a Civic, and will cost much more than a Civic to fix. In this case, listen to the parents.
