93 Repair Manual

Hey Guys, I was wondering what would be a good repair manual to get for a 93 RX-7? I check the boards with a search and no specifics of which is better as far as info and clear.

Here is one I heard was pretty good: https://www.roadcatalogs.com/store/racingbeat_rx7.html

Please let me know what you think. It's a birthday gift. Thanks in advance!

You want a service manual. That manual is more of a general manual and not a specifics overall coverage of the 93' FD. You can call Ray at malloy mazda and get him to order one for you and have it sent to your house. I believe Haynes has a manual for it. I'm not sure if that's the one that Mazda sends you but yeah.

I have the Mazda official one. I think it's definitely worth it to buy it instead of using the online one, because usually you you don't want to be going in and out of your house while you are working on your car; it's good to have right there with you.

I just got mine in the mail today from Malloy Mazda. Took awhile to get it but I am glad I bought one.

Wow, my friend, who I'm getting this for, says everyone on the board are good at helping and it's true! =)

Do you know how much from Malloy? How do I locate them to contact them? Having one on hand is much better than going in and out of the house for sure; I can vouch since I only have .pdf of the RSX one.

Ask for Ray Crowe and have your credit card ready. Not sure on the price, I'm thinking about $80, but free shipping. Whatever the cost, it will pay for itself within a year.

BTW, that's a great gift idea for an FD owner, instead of the usual and relatively worthless 'blingage' .

Agreed. The shop manual is the most valuable tool you can have for an FD. About $80 is right.

That Racing Beat book is just a catalog with some tech tips in it. It's nice, but in no way is it a shop manual. Haynes never made a book for the 3rd gen - the only real option is the Mazda service manual, which is actually quite good.

There's also a Mazda wiring diagram book for an additional $80. It has tons of colorful and sexy foldouts of the FD's electrical system that are not covered in the FSM (Factory Service Manual).

Also, you'll probably need a 3" three-ring binder for the FSM. You might be tempted to get a nice leather one as a gift, but it's going to get VERY dirty, so I would recommend a tough vinyl binder.

This is coming from a new member. Has the 3rd gen forum really come this far or has he just been lucky?
