93 R1 to trade for 67 Camaro SS, deal?

First... I'm just looking for opinions on who's getting the better end of the deal and how/why.
Second... If you're just going to flame me for wanting a muscle car instead of the R1, don't post.

My car... black 93 R1, 160k miles, 5spd w/ new bearings, brand new motor, <30k mile turbos, 9 month old paint (original color), several new misc sensors, <30k on injectors, new pulsation dampener, fuel filter, oil filter, veilside body kit, erebuni wing, HKS downpipe, silicone hose kit, block off kit, doublt throttle removed, mazdaspeed hood (replica), feed headlight cover, enkei RP01 wheels (18x8, 18x9) with falken tires, blitz dual SBC turbo timer, turbo system simplification, sony explod head unit, msd plug wires and ngk platinum plugs.

the SS... black w/ gold rally stripes 67 SS, turbo 400 manual valve body tranny, 3.73 gears in a 12 bolt rear-end, "race" setup suspension (2.5" front and 2" rear lower), brand new tires and upholstery, 2 new rims and gauges, brand new 430cuin BB motor, at least 560rwhp, lightened steel crank, forged pistons (10.5:1), comp cam, race bearings, chromoly rings, performance rods, heads and block, comp cams double springs, teflon seals, manley SS valves w/ 3angle job, billet msd distributor spark box and blaster coil, cowl hood and monster tach, corvette brakes in the front and an aluminum radiator w/ electric fan (other misc goodies).

I still have my 91 as my rotary toy, but I need some serious power. I have muscle car roots, so this really enticing. I appreciate any input and again, please no flaming.

It's pretty even...

But if the camaro is rust-free I'd go with it. Big bad old rides are way cool. Both cars are quite similar in their need for attention, uniqueness, fun factor, and so on... But That camaro sounds kick ***, if you were planning to get rid of your FD anyway, that is the way to go.

RX-7's aren't for everyone. Try to remember the first time you ever drove your FD. That heavy, dated beast can't compare to the FD's handling, but some people are only interested in HP. However, no one will argue with you when you say, "My SS has way more ***** than my old FD."

I've got it in my mind that if I do get this SS, it'll be my straight line car and I'll make the T2 for my auto-x/handling car. Another reason that I'm considering it is that I need a car with more than two seat. I'm getting married soon and a baby is on the way.

I can sell you a 67 Camaro SS for $13000 if you want. My friend has one for sale right now.
I also know someone with a 69 Camaro SS Drag car, tubbed, slicks, etc.. that runs 6.80's in the 1/8th that is for sale. If you want serious power. It should be a low 10 or high 9 second car. Not very streetable though.

How fast is the 67? I need the car to be somewhat streetable. This car is still "street legal" and it's in the 10's (expected).

the 1st gen camaros are not fast cars stock, they ran at something in teh high 14's area as did almost any other muscle car. modded is a diff story, u can go as fast as u want depending on your wallet. as far as handling goes u will not come close to the rx7.

My experience..........

is that, th FD's are the most pleasant car to drive i have ever driven.. I have built many hot rods.. Vetts with the BB/ 4 speeds/ etc etc... Trans Am's with the NO2.. and they all palen br comparison.....yes they are like a sledge hammer.. however, in traffic the FD's are surgicial........ it's done and i'm on my way!!!yayayayaya... pick what you will have more fun with, its all a matter of preference... the deal seems about fair, but its not really about that, or how cool each of them looks, or how fast... its more like ask yourself, "what one do i really want to drive?" if it were me, i would keep the 7, but the image of a hardass hot rod is awful tempting in its own right... the prize would to have both the FD and the SS... that would be one mean *** garage

Get the Camaro. They are beautiful cars, and if you don't beat it to dogmeat, it will appreciate in value over the years.

I understand where you're coming from, I come from Hot Rod/Muscle Car roots also ('59 El Camino, '56 Chevy were my favorites so far)

I say go for it if it's what you really want... there's no reason that you can't get another FD later...

plus... you'd be infecting another person with the RX-7 addiction... and that can't be a bad thing!

The guy isn't totally done with the motor. He likes the car so much he said he'd build it to my liking, with what's left to go and within reason, for the straightup trade. I checked the price, and the average 67 SS is worth about $14k. I'm pretty sure I'm going for it, I just want to see the car first.

even better that he'll build to suit... sounds like some commercial landowner trying to attract tennants

it would be cool to see some pics if you go through w/ it... so that eveyone could see what you sold your soul... I mean RX-7 for.

I would wager that a clean late 60's Camaro SS will be worth a lot more than a FD in 30 years.

I have been wanting to buy one myself - keeping the 7 though. It would be a garage queen much like the 7, the Camaro taken out for pleasure, the 7 for track/pleasure (same thing

Can you say "sleepah"?

If one of these is good enough for Paul Newman it's good enough for me.

The Camaro would still have about 25 years on the RX7 of collectors' value. I like the RX7 because of the rotary motor, it amazes me. Also, I love big, V8, muscle cars because of their raw torque. The rotary can't give me the power I want in a straight line without a huge investment in money. On the other hand though, my T2 will have plenty of potential for hittin the twisties. I'm just getting the best of both worlds in my eyes. If I do go through with it, or at elast get some pictures... I'll post them up.

Exclamation Picture...

Here is a recent picture of the car, taken right before it left for the shop to have the motor work and etc done.
Could, or should, I try to ask for some cash for the trade also? I'll admit that I have a bad eye when it comes to appraisal.
