93 Power Steering Pump Rebuild Kit
Does anyone have experience rebuilding a “93” Power Steering Pump and know where I can buy a rebuild kit?
My understanding is that the pump changed for 94-95. The kit sold by Atkins states it will not fit the 93…
I see plenty of kits sold elsewhere for 93-95, but I’m not sure if they are really compatible with the 93.

First off, why are you rebuilding it? I don't think I've ever seen a bad power steering pump.
If there is a difference in years I've never seen it, all the PS pumps look the same.
If there's something crazy wrong or physically broken with the pump, just get a good used one. They should be a dime a dozen.
Only real problem I've ever seen with the pumps is the short 3 inch hose on the side leaks and people break the plastic pulley trying to remove it. That's about it.

Hi Dale,
The bearing is bad (loud whine confirmed with stethoscope).
I would rather rebuild mine than buy a used one…
Edit: Fluid is full/new.

Check with Ray Crowe for a rebuild kit, and tell him you'll need the bearing also, they may still be available. Years ago I was able to source a full rebuild kit for my FC's PS pump from Ray; IIRC the bearing is available as a separate part # from the seal kit. I only resorted to doing the rebuild myself after going thru 5 reman PS pumps from Advance Auto parts, which were FENCO brand. They had a lifetime replacement warranty, but the ones I got never lasted more than a month before leaking or bearing noise became evident. After 5 times, Advance finally gave me my $ back and let me keep the last one as a rebuildable core.
The rebuild procedure for the FC pump was pretty simple, I'd expect the same for the FD pump. You'll need something to press the old bearing out & new one in though - IIRC, I used a large bench vise and some suitably sized sockets to do that part.

I rebuilt mine awhile back. Those sealed ball bearings are not hard to find a replacement for, even if you go to a local shop that sells bearings and the like. Replacing the seals is not difficult, but you will need a bearing puller if you do change the bearing.
Be careful when taking the rotating and fin assembly. Those fins will easily fall out of the hub, and it would be easy to put them back in wrong.
The short hose, from the reservoir to the pump, can be found on RockAuto, but they sell you a much longer length than you need. Be aware that it is a metric sized ID hose, and order accordingly. Be careful with the reservoir when removing and cleaning, as I believe those are NLA. I would advise on replacing the hose clamp with a spring clip from your assorted box of them (which you should just have anyway).

My Apologies! I didn’t think about it until now to check his profile… and it looks like he owns a 93 (sigh).
I’ll try out the Autozone kit he used.

I tried to remember why I did not write this up, then I realized that this exists (and I used it to rebuild mine)!
