Question 93 having starting issues.

Hello,
I am new to the forum and see a lot of good advice out there. I hope someone can help me out with a problem.

I recently bought a '93 RX7 TT from a friend that moved back overseas. When I drove the car home (2 miles) I heard a snap in the engine and knew it was the alternator belt due to the lights going dim. I just got the thing in the driveway as it died.

What I found was that the belt slid off because the water pump was in bad shape. I have since replaced the water pump and all the belts. I have done maintenance on the battery and recharged it. However it will not start now.

When I attempt to start it I might get a sputter but the engine never fully catches to start. So I bought new plugs to replace the old ones. When I hooked one plug up the spark was yellow, not blue. I have not put all the plugs in yet, but it still hasn't started.

Could this be bad coils? I will be putting all the plugs in today and hope for the best. Any other help anyone can provide is appreciated.

I've had the car for almost 3 weeks. It looks great in the driveway, but I'd really like to drive it!

I forgot to mention. The car is completely stock with the exception of having a boost gauge installed on the A pillar and after market rims. I think it's a base model, how do you tell? It has 72,000 miles on it with only 3,000 in the last 4 years. I'm pretty sure it sat for the last two years having most of the 3,000 miles put on it in the first two years of my friend owning it.

Ok, I've had slight success today. The new plugs got it started. It looks like it is getting to much fuel though. I have lots of blue smoke, it isn't idling good (rough), and the coolant light keeps coming on soon after starting it, but it has plenty of coolant in it. Idea's?

I'm going to go purchase some high octane for it. I have no idea how old the fuel is that is in it. The air filter looks like it needs replaced too.

I would be happy if I could get it to run as good as my MR2!

Not sure about the coolant light, but the leading coil on mine was dying a couple months ago and my car was running super rich (fumes from exhaust would cause your eyes to water) and it wasn't idling well at all. Replaced all the coils just to be safe and it started up fine.
