Im just going by what the shop said that rebuilt and tuned the car for me. Im an FD newbie and may have gotten alittle over my head with this one.. lol (meaning buying a modded car such as this one with very little knowledge about the specifics of the engine and such.

I weighed my car awhile back at the track and it weighs 2700 lbs his weighs 4900 lbs what are the chances I can take him on low boost which is right at 330 RWHP.
lmao... 4900lbs.

first of all, its gotta be lighter than that, my friends truck weighs 4900 lbs. last time i checked, cobras weight on average about 3850lbs (about ~4000 with driver). Your car weighs probably about 2850lbs with you in it.

if he has a 4000lb car that has 460WHP, then to keep up with him in a 2850lb car you would need 327.75WHP. (11.5% weight to hp ratio).

460 divided by 4000 is .115, which is equal to 11.5%
2850 multiplied by .115 is 327.75

If your car weighs 2850 (with driver) it should be a pretty even race.

(of course if you put it up to high boost, you would dust him)

That's an awful lot of generalization for two cars with totally different aerodynamics, weights, gearing, redlines, and power curves... not to mention the variable behind the steering wheel.

yes but it simplifies the whole thing. The main key elements of that matchup would be power and weight.

Too much.

Just FYI, torque, gearing, and weight determine the rate of acceleration of a car. Not peak horsepower divided by weight.

I was basically giving a breakdown of horsepower to weight. i wasnt trying to be too elaborate. I know there are several other factors, but that one is just comparing horsepower and weight.

OZZMAN,

Where you on highway 9 south of norman around 3:45 today. I was w/ the family in my wifes speed6 instead of the 7, but I am pretty sure I saw that car. Hang on to it if you can.

Yea that was me, im going to try to hold on to it. I sold a 93 Z28 to a guy at Ft. Sill but he has missed 4 payments so im going to have to go and repo it. I sure would rather have the payments that would give me what I need to keep my 7.
