93 Fd performance help!

I recently bought a 93 fd and im having alittle trouble with the car performance wise. I did 0-60 tests with my friend and we clocked about a 9.0s avg. The car is old i understand thta but, originally it supposed to go 0-60 in 5.2s(avg). It cant have this much change in performance in 10 yrs. Even if so, how can I make it run as quick as new w/o modding(ie. intake, exhaust, dp, etc.) I want it to run stock times on stock parts so that I can mod it further to make it quicker than stock. Any ideas of what I can do/check/change to make my car operate performance wise , so to speak "new."
HELP ME!!

If you don't have a boost gauge, that's your first step.

Your car isn't running right. Get a boost gauge and see how you're boosting. I imagine you have a leak somewhere.

0-60 performance tests that are published come from people that are professional drivers. Not many people can reproduce the same numbers they can. For someone who barely turned 17, I highly doubt you are capable.

Besides getting a boost gauge. I would say check plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, oil change and coolant flush if you haven't done it.

"It cant have this much change in performance in 10 yrs"

Yes, yes it can.

Especially the FD. It could change in 10 seconds for that matter.
Check the newbie section and you'll find sites to help you. You will hear terms like "reliablity mods" and get let in correct direction. It has helped me ALOT. ... and welcome to our world.

Was your Civic turbo charged? If not, you could do perfect launchs in a Civic everytime and ten time a day and still have absolutely no idea on how to properly launch a turbo charged car.
Launching a turbo charged car is tricky to begin with, the FD is even more finicky because of lack of torque below 3K rpm.
As most people suggests, have your car checked out or dynoed to understand the power level of the car. Once everything checks out o.k. then practice, practice, practice........you get the idea.

Since you know very little about the car, I suggest that you take it to a shop that specializes in rotary cars. They should be able to diagnose your problem.

No one can do that here, as you have no idea what the problem might be.

Where in California are you? I'm with the other guys here, take it to a reputable shop (there are several in CA) and have them check it out. Plus get a boost gauge and check the vaccum lines and intercooler piping, they are prone to popping off and will cause a massive boost leak. Places in CA to search on the net (that I can name): Rotary Reliability and Racing, Mazdatrix, Tripoint Engineering, R&R Rotary, Corksport, Rotary Extreme, M2 Performance, and some others I can't remember. I'm not sure if all of them work on cars or just do company projects but its a start. Good luck
