Is '93 and '94 sunroom mechanism the same?
If I'm not mistaken, I believe '94 RX-7 tourings all had a glass sunroof.
There's a Montego Blue '94 that I'm considering, but I'm not sure how I feel about the glass roof. I think I preferred the hard roof in my '93 touring.
Anyone know how difficult it would be to swap out the glass for a hard roof?
Any '94 owners have any opinions on the glass roof?
Thanks

Mu understanding is that the Glass Panel was an OPTION for 94 only and that it is interchangeable with the metal panel - should be a straight swap but as I have never done it or know of any body that has, sombody correct me if I am wrong.

opinions on the glass roof: it comes with a cover, so from the inside, if you have the cover on you can't tell the difference between the glass and the metal roof. When you take off the cover, however, you get a bit of light through - feels nice.
I'd go with the glass roof if you like the exterior look (some people don't... I do). However, if I were to buy another RX7, I'd look for one without the sunroof at all. No sunroof = more headroom, stiffer chasis, one less thing to break, cleaner lines.
edit: I'm almost certain that I read about someone changing out a metal roof with a glass roof, so you should have no problem if you wanted to go the other way.

The metal/glass roofs are easy to swap. Each of them are attached to the sunroof mechanism by 4 bolts. You just have to take the trim pieces out, take off the nuts, and swap in the glass or metal roof.
The glass moonroof is a rare item and I prefer it on my '93. The dark glass blends in well with the MB or black colored cars. I'm sure you'd get plenty of takers if you wanted to swap your glass roof for a metal roof.

Click on Parts Diagram, then '95 3 of 3 Body, starting around page 35.
I personally love the glass panel, and have a complete glass assembly with frame/motor and removable sunscreen panel that I was going to put in, but can use the money elsewhere so selling.
