90,000 miles or more on first engine.
Ok, We hear about alot of engine blowing all the time.
What we don't hear much about is, people who have a lot of miles on the first engine. It's hard to say these engine are really bad if people are getting more than 100,000 miles out of them.
So all the people with 90,000 or more miles, on your first engine answer. I want to see If there something common with you guys. So I need you to reply to somethings like.
Do you have these mod's or they stock. What's the name, size how many ect. Example. greedy, tial ect.
1. Down pipe
2. Radialtor
3. Intercooler
4. Turbo
5. Oil
6. Water Injection
7. EMS
8. Intake System
9. Oil cooler
10. Fuel pump
11. Knock Sensors
12. Fuel Injectors Size
13. Blow of valve
14. Vented Hood.
15. Do you let it cool down be for shut down.
16. How many between fuel filter change?
17. How many between oil change?
18. How often do you drive it hard?
19. State you live in.
20. What order did you do you mods in.
If this gets a good amount of hits, I will try to summerize it for everyone. Maybe we will all learn something new.
Thanks,

Bought mine totally stock with 62K miles on it. Put a downpipe and opened up the airbox and then put on a Racing Beat dual catback.
I think the exhaust was part of the reason for the engine to go at 93K......

i got 98,000 miles on my car before i needed to replace my 1st engine, it was my daily driver for 3 1/2 yrs.
my mods were all the reliability
and downpipe and high flow midpipe
light flywheel and ACT street/strip clutch
w/ boost contoller for no more than 12psi.

I bought mine with 88k on it bone stock, except for a turbo timer. Since then I added a catback and dp and am now at 93k. Got a compression test about a year ago and the numbers were very good (don't remember the exact numbers).
Last FD had about 90k exactly. DP, MP, CB. It was auto running 8psi as set by a profec B. It was babied. Still ran strong (as strong as a slush box on 8 pounds). To bad that car was totaled. I now use it for parts.
Recently I pulled the turbos and they were like new. Absolutely no cracks or anything whatsoever. Replaced the oil seals and dropped em in the new 5spd VR....12 pounds baby

Mine just hit over 90k miles. HKS intake, dp and cat-back. I bought it with 38k in July of 2000-and it's been a daily driver ever since. I used to really baby the engine before (I'd only floor it once in a blue moon)-and I could probablly count on one hand the number of times I've heard the beep the car makes when you're near red line.
Oil changed every 3 months or 3,000 miles with regular Castrol or Penzoil 5-30...my dad used to be able to get this motor oil made by Lubrication Engineers from his supervisor at work (I don't really know how good that stuff is), and I used that stuff for the first year or so. But the Castrol seems to be working fine.

bajaman - What kind of oil do you use.
MrRx - Letting it cool down all the time, I think that's something to add to must do list. How many of you other guy's do this.
RX-7$4$me -Is your power fc tuned or, are you using base maps.
SiKoPaTHX - You might be on to something too, maybe it's good to turn turbo's down if there is no reason for them to be up.
Damon B and twinturborx7pete - Since you guys race a lot do you guys have upgrade fuel systems.
montego - 108k not bad maybe a dp would have helped, it's hard to say.
So far looks like having a dp and, always letting the car cool down is two things that might be helpful.
I was wondering don't alot of the na rotary engine get over 100k, if so why do we compare v-8 reliabiliy to a engine with a turbo in it. A turbo would put more stress on both motors.
Thanks,
