I don't know alot either. But I am interested in beefing up/ replacing stocker with a direct fit built tranny. See what you can find on search with Dogmission or T-56 Swaps or just tranny swaps... I dunno.... I couldn't find much. But then again... I am not good at the search function. I wanna run gobs of power and need a tranny to handle it.

p.s. I know T-56 is not a direct replacement

T-56 I am sure could be made to work somehow but can't handle the high rpms of a rotary so everyone says.
HKS makes a sequential 6 speed that'll set you back probably about 7-8k...
I am sure there are other options out there besides these..

Well.. that's why I am gonna get the beautiful red PPF from Mazda Speed.
Any one got any more info on this HKS tranny? I won't be getting it for a year.. but I still wanna all over it.

p.s. It's funny how we get all hyped on stuff. 20B, Bridgeport... and then realize that it's really not plausible.

Again.. in my limited knowledge... Basically you are looking at trying to get the bell housing to fit in to the tranny tunnel. And I don't know about the bolt pattern to match it up.... probably have to fab a bell housing? I dunno... I am still searching. I figure in a year I will have enough info on what direction I wanna go with it.

6 Speed Sequential which uses the clutch only on downshifts because RPM's have to be matched.
(DOUBLE CLUCHING WOULD BE VERY USEFULL HERE)
It's about 7 g's installed and can be successfully mated to the 13B

They would not be any worse than the HKS or any other clutchless tranny out there.

Sorry jim, I correct myself. From what I remember someone was saying and it was pretty much agreed on that the T56 wouldn't do well in a high-reving rotary application.
I could be wrong though because you probably know more about it then me. And I could be remembering wrong.

Why is that so funny Van Sema? Oh.. I also noticed that that Greddy kit is for JDM spec trannys. How much for one of those? Or just worth it to by something else?

BTW, I was thinking about this last night and were you the one who said it wouldn't handle high rpm rotarys very well? Something about grinding. I don't remember it all.

QUaife makes a 6sp gear set for the stock FD trans.
Quaife Gearkits are ultra-close ratio kits for fast road and sport use. They have been designed to fit the standard gear cases of most popular competition cars. Available with dog type engagement or synchromesh. Some kits replace four with five, or five with six gears.
