5 beeps - Airbag warning? What to do?

Okay. I see that repeated 5 beeps (from the info on sun visor) means there is a problem with the airbag. I replaced my stock wheel with an aftermarket one a couple months ago, & just got the beeps tonight. What I did do today was to pull the instrument panel because one of the bulbs wasn't working (it was the defrost one). I also pulled the light bulb for the aibrag warning, since I do not have an airbag installed. My stock alarm also kept going off, so I unplugged the 8 & 20 pin white connectors behind the driver left pick panel.

Any advice... I must stop the beeping! I'd rather not undo what I did today & see if it stops beeping... especially since if I reconnect the 8 & 20 pin white connectors... the alarm will again go off like crazy!

SOMEBODY SAVE ME! Thanks in advance.

Is the missing airbag warning light what is causing this? How can I black out that light while avoiding the beeps?

There's a controller behind the HVAC panel (If memory serves me I think you can see it from the driver side footwell). Two white plugs into a box approximately 3"X4"X2" (I recall black with a yellow sticker)... unplug them - no more beeps.

I actually found out it WAS the airbag light... so I wrapped some electrical tape around the bulb, & voila! No more beeping OR airbag warning light!

He's right. I pulled out the controller aka airbag CPU to get rid of the beep cuz I pulled my bulb as well...only to realize that I now disabled the passenger side airbag too Oh well hehe

Back from the dead, does anyone have pics of the airbag controller referenced above?

It's under the dash on the driver's side bolted to the heater core. It should be pretty obvious, yellow warning sticker on it. I don't have a link to a picture handy.

Thanks Dale—you can just unplug that thing and get rid of any peeping/alarms/dash lights?

I have a resistor for my aftemarket wheel, but would love to pull all the related airbag sensors and whatnot.

Pretty much, I pulled all my airbag stuff some time back. The airbag system is pretty much on separate harnesses from everything else.

I think the only loose end was the airbag light was on after everything was removed, simply pulling the bulb was the end of that.

Some parts I cut wire, to really fully remove would be a dash-out operation, but you can get 95% without going to that extreme.

Got it. I've got a Haltech IC-7 dash now, so no real bulb to remove, but I'll unplug it and see what happens
