450 hp + and lightweight flywheel ?
I've been using SRmotorsports 9.5lb flywheel and the stock twins at 16lbs boost and it was great. I know there's alot of info on this, which i read, just aiming this towards people with 450 hp and up. Now that i have upgraded to a single (R85) and just finished my motor, I can't decide what flywheel to use. I do like drag racing at the strip, but also drive the car around the town. I plan on running 25-27 lbs of boost and have never driven a single turbo 7 before. I know i will have to shift really fast, since it will rev faster with a single, and i heard that drag racing with a light flywheel, that when you shift the rev drop faster than a stock flywheel, but it also revs faster than the stocker. How's the performance drag racing with a light weight flywheel on a high HP rx7. Would you go back to stock or love the light flywheel?

Will work for horsepower
If your planning to run 25-27 lbs you better go twin disc. There good on the street and good at higher h/p levels. Do it once do it right That saves money over going cheap more than once!

IMHO: the difference between a LWFW and the stocker isn't huge. I've noticed slightly better engine spool-up and faster rev dropping. But nothing that hurt the drivability or dramatically changed trap times.
I wouldn't worry about it and just use the LWFW for the reduction in weight.

I was told the ACT street/strip HD clutch can hold 408 lbs of torque, I doubt i'll have that much torque. I just look up the exedy clutch it's $1600. Thanks for the info. I'll go that route when i toast this one.
Thanks Zenofspeed is that with a 450 + car ? I know it's not that much of a difference when my car had the stock turbo at 16lbs of boost, but i know the single turbo will rev much faster, just not sure .
Anybody know what Ernie T uses, i saw his launch and was like WOW,that's what i want my car to do !

The S/S might be able to hold that much, but for how long? If you're going to be regularly dumping the clutch, I would look for something that's more durable so that you won't have to go back and replace it in a couple of months.

The ACT street/strip has a basically stock clutch disc, and will not hold a single turbo running 15 psi, let alone 25+.
I'd go w/the lightest flywheel you can for a street car, in this case the prolite.

^^^^ Good Friends past this on to me. Best deal I've seen on the ACT Flywheel.
My Streetlite will arrive tomorrow.
NOTE: If you are going to order from them, be ready to wait a little longer for it. I placed my order on 2/27/08 and it's arriving 3/14/08.

horspowerfreaks?? never heard of them... on the turboimport site which one is the ACT S/S?
rich you say get the prolight which i am thinking about but i am on ACT's website and it says
Prolite
- Preferred for Road Racing or minimum inertia
- Quick throttle response and acceleration
- Lightest with lowest inertia
- Reduced drivability
Streetlite
- Preferred for Street and Drag Racing
- Improved throttle response and acceleration
- Considerably lighter than stock
- Most durable flywheel available
- Good drivability
why would it reduce drivability?
