your videos rock though, I can live vicariously through your lapping sessions

heheheh :-)
in terms of track time, do some google searches for open lapping clubs, you would be surprised at what you can find only a few hours from any location.

I have only added some minor aero things (hood, diffuser, front splitter/undertray, et)

but i have a question i didnt see anyone ask yet.. we all know you do alot of track racing, what is your routine for your car? i mean like engine/tranny etc wise? do you open up the engine after each race to inspect for failures/flaws? maybe after 2 races, 3?
or do you just run it til it blows? LOL nah jk

heheh, well i really do open lapping events, they are not real races, although I have done an exhibition wheel-to-wheel race with the shelby club, now THAT was fun!!!
i have only had the yelllwo track car for this season, and the engine/turbo is running strong, so really all I do are expendables like rotors/pads/tires/gaskets
I check the car over before every event, make sure nothing is broken or off, like a suspention arm or somthing, make sure the wheels bearing are not loose, et, et
then i go drive the hell out of the car ;-)
I have had a few maintenence things, like welding some cracks on a exhaust flange, but nothing major like engine rebuild or turbo replacement. if you think about it, im not running the engien that hard in terms of boost, i only run 11-12 psi...so longevity is in my favor, however next year I'll tur it up a notch now that I knwo how to drive this beast ;-)

And I think your a little modest about your skills. You did let your driving talk for you. Watching it from the stands was sure fun.

>>LOL, apparently "racers" also cause the track officials to call a driver's meeting and waste EVERYBODY'S time reminding ONE guy about the rules...
hey Jim, good to hear from you again...and yeah, that is exaclty what happened :-)

thanks, I appreciate it, the car makes me look good ;-)
I love the video where you and I are both going 'ooohhhhh' as we start sliding a bit in the carousel while we try to stay with the gt3
u think you may do some track events next year? MAM is agreat track to learn on.

Enjoyed your latest video's Damian, keep them coming!
Did you have a chance to test your front splitter and rear defusser? If so, how did it work out?
Thanks

yeah, one event at roadamerica and two event at MAM....the car felt great but its really hard to tell how big a difference they make because of all the other extrenal variables (tires, weather, et, et). But I can say the car is feeling very stable at high speed, especially in the turns. I might start to slide in the high speed sweeping turns but the car dosnt 'flutter' at all, it stays flat.

LOL, I also remember that GT3 getting alittle sideways too....I think you were pushing him.
I would like to learn to drive my car a bit better, and a club membership isn't all that expensive. As you know, I've got to upgrade a few things on my car first, but that ride was definitely an inspiration. We'll see how it goes.

Great videos! I am interested in your video setup, specifically sound. I have been taping some lapping sessions but the sound is awful. Using the camera's mic captures nothing but wind in the microphone, and I haven't found a good spot for a remote mic that captures decent engine tone
Anyway, love your vids. MAM is a fun track! I was driving a PCA event at Heartland Park that weekend, or would have been at MAM myself. Too bad - I coulda watched myself on one of your videos - briefly at least . Cheers.

Damian,
When your on the track with the so called racers you need to ride their *** seriously close and show them the nose a time or two. I seriously think sometimes they forget it's an open track event and don't give a pass.
Awesome driving and great vids,
Fritz

i tested many setups, including remote shotgun mics, and in the end I used the cameras electronic 'windcut' feature along with a mall piece of foam taped around the camera mic to act as a windscreen. Worked great as the sound is very full with little wind noise.

the wide angle lens i use on the camera makes the distance a bit exaggerated, we are actually closer that it appears in the footage...however, I usually don't get to close to drivers i don't know, I let them know im there but keep a car length of space in case they make a tragic mistake, that leaves me some room to react. drivers i trust i can get right up on the bumper until the pass.
by the way i unplugged my abs for this event to start learning to threshhold break without its aid, and it was a bit crazy for a few laps, but then I got the hang of it and kinda liked it....I will remove the abs system over winter and wanted a head start on driving without it. the PS is going to go to.

yeah, we were pushing him a bit ;-)
I would do the reliability mods first, worry about power/grip mods later, even a stock fd is a formidable machine and its best to max it out in stock form before upgrading its power/grip. Most people see the yellow car and forget that I did an entire season with my relativly stock 95 before gettin the silly track car.
