3rd Gen. Wont Start....
I have a 94 fd. Yesterday when driving the car, the car was at a loss of power in normal driving.
Now, when trying to start, after serveral attempts, the car will turn on, sputter for a few seconds and then shut off.
At first I thought it was an electrical or power problem, but i checked the fuses and replaced the battery, but still the same problem.
When it does come around to starting, the car will take a little bit of gas if you rev a little, then it will die out right away. Im not sure if this is possibly a hose problem or possibly an apex/coolant seal.
Any ideas?

don't race, don't need to
Didja run a compression check yet? Look through some of the posts for this from the last few days. Someone placed a printout of their good and VERY bad rotor compression test in their post. The good rotor gives all the same pressure spikes, but I dont recall the exact numbers you are looking for, so I'm partially useless to you. The bad apex seal (if there's only one!) will give one strong pulse and two much weaker ones.
From my understanding, coolant seal would have been preceded by LARGE clouds of white pillowy smoke form tail pipe (a sight I hope to NEVER NEVER NEVER see!!).
hope any of this helps. Also if the engine runs relatively smooth when it runs (!), then both rotors would be running fine, right guys? Then he should look elsewhere (flooding?)

im experiencing a similar problem. Check your plugs and check your wires. Are you smelling gas? Check and see if you are leaking fuel. It could be the fuel pulsation dampener. Also if you can get the uim off you should take a volt meter and check your coil packs.

I havent ran any compression tests yet. My friend just recommended this to me when we checked out the car.
There is no funny smells or any clouds of smoke, it just doesnt have any power to even idle or anything. It doesnt start half the time, when it actually does, then it will stay running for a few seconds before it completely shuts off.
How do I check for flooding and such?

flooding should be gas smell when plugs are pulled.
here's the blown motor thread from a day or two ago. Looks like you want around 100 psi. Look halfway down the thread for the image
LOL, and again, is the running "rough" or "blatty", or smooth, but dies right away?

When it dies it does stay on anywhere from 1 to about 5 seconds
The way it runs when it does turn on is kinda like if a rookie driver were trying to get out of 1st gear with a racing clutch (stalling) Its kinda like stalling except for the fact that it wont move if you put it into gear. And if you have to continuously rev to keep it on, if it does stay on period.

First check to see if your getting spark by grounding the plug and having someone crank her up, im assuming you are since your able to get her fired up a bit, then check fuel pressure, lines and injectors; then check compresssion. good luck

I'll try replacing the fuel filter. I gotta get the car towed to my house today... then we'll go from there. We'll see if we cant get some spark, then move to a compression test...

Got the problem fixed. Car was flooded. A couple friends came over, we removed the fuel pump relay and fuel pump fuse and started it up. Once it sat for a minute or so it died out then we setup everything back together it was working fine, but idling very hard.
The car was shooting out dark clouds of smoke and very white clouds of smoke, depending on the idle level. We then took out the Apexi PFC and ECU and replaced it with the stock ECU and the car works fine now.
Now I just need to figure out why my car doesnt boost, i get a spike of 2-0-2 and thats all, I was told I could have a bad solenoid? Ill be taking it to Ricks Rotary in Plesanton soon...
Thanks for the help everyone

The PFC and ECU is working fine on my friends car. I am still running stock turbo setup, not single turbo upgrade. I am going to run the stock ECU, but I'm going to part out my mods and stuff and get my car back to mostly stock.
I just wish I knew what was wrong with my turbos!
