The only US model to come with a tan interior in 1993 was the Touring.
All US RX-7s were twin turbo, 255hp from the factory. Anything more is aftermarket mods.
No RX-7 came with a Cosmo 13B-RE. The Cosmo was a car, not available in the US, that was comparable to a T-Bird and certain years came with the option of either a 13B-RE twin turbo, which has a better intake manifold, but smaller exhaust ports and smaller turbos when compared to the 13B-REW motor, which came in all 92-02 RX-7s, in different configurations. The Cosmo also came with the 20B-REW, which you'll hear lots about around here.
The differences between US RX-7s were easily swapped out in a matter of hours. The only permanent feature that could not be swapped is the sunroof, which was standard on 93-94 Tourings and 94-95 PEPs.

Z33 > R1 > R2 > BASE > TOURING
Z33 extremely rare only heard some guys speak of it at rx revolution briefly back in like '02-'03. Using the R1 CYM platform but has ecu differences rare from japan to US and never labeled from what i heard. We actually were trying to see if my fathers FD was Z33 b/c it had somethings that other CYM's did not come with, and his CYM would keep up with my FD he had no upgrades whereas i have many. Not to get too far off subject but has anyone uncovered any info on this, or if it even exists?

The CYM is the same platform as any other FD, just a different color...
Looks like you have a nice, big, expensive project ahead of you. Have fun, do it right
If you don't like the tan leather, you could check out the black leather, red leather, black suede or black cloth. Or, if you want to import an interior from Japan, you could do red Recaro seats, black Recaro seats, rear seats, tan suede, and probably more that I haven't seen yet

Why not read the "stickies"???
It would help if new owners would read the stickies BEFORE posting!

Post #4 starts a ton of great info.
I wish we could have a prompt that asks: "have you utilized the search function?" If not, then please search before posting a question that has probably been asked a million times.

i would like to swap out to the black suede or cloth i hate leather recaros would be nice not worried about the back seat since it like a 240sx you can have a back seat but that doenst mean you can fit people back there. as for being a touring edition im fine with that my plan is to make a daily driven widebody drifter!!
im about half throught that thread yes it has alot of helpful info but didnt answer my questions, so i asked the site for help. i have searched and used the search function mutliply times.

Jay the JDM recaros are not leather. They are cloth. The fabric is pretty fragile but they are supposed to be the most comfortable seats you can buy for an FD.

These are actually a pic of my seats that I bought from the boutique.

The RZ and Spirit R Recaros are supposed to be real nice. I know one or two guys who have them, but I've never had a seat. They are also one of very very few racing seats that actually fit in the FD without destroying the door panels.
A DD widebody drift car is your plan, eh? I'm not going to touch that one. I'll stick to trying to be helpful.
Please show me. I'm not trying to be difficult, but I've been around for a few years, seen a lot of FDs, and never seen or heard of a base coming with stock leather. Unless you count the 94 PEP, which was a base with leather and a sunroof.

I can personally vouch for the JDM FD Recaros, I had a chance to sit/ride in them in the car of a good friend, amazing feel, very supportive, and comfortable as hell. I'm also a pretty big guy and had no problem sitting in them.

Sloasfk you can sit in my seats. Give em a try. I hope your not fat. If I ever head to KDR I can give you a call!
There are ways to get a cheaper interior rather than the used section on forums.
-Respray with vinyl or have a shop do it for you (I was quoted at $500 for black or redoing the materior in alacantra)
-Import from Japan (these pieces are apparently dirt cheap in Japan, just have to watch shipping), I would ask purerx7 as he was the one that brought this to my attention. It might actually be worth it to import smaller pieces and get the larger ones locally. CircuitTheory had really cheap headliners but my timeframe made me buy from someone local instead.
-Buy a shell with black interior and part out the rest or just swap and sell the shell
To add to what Gordon said, I would say if you are going to modify the car like that or to any heavy extent, please do it to a higher mileage vehicle. If you find a car under 40k miles, please let a collector have it. You can take a car back to stock from doing such modifications but a cherry car is only cherry once.

while I agree with gordon on what he said, front and rear flares are a nice addition to the FD and I personally feel that they can help accent the already gorgeous styling of the car. The Burnout "widebody" kit is one of the best I've ever seen and plan on putting it on my car.

I don't know how to prove it to you other than just telling you that I've looked at many base models with leather.
I looked at this one back in March, in person. It was a 93' montego blue base model (no sunroof) with leather interior. One owner, never modified.

The recaro rz/spirit-r seats are the MOST comfortable seat I have sat in - more comfortable then my fathers e-class benz and his previous Jaguar. They fit perfect, grip you well and are made of a strong kevlar composite. Only downside is they are pricey, they might not be expensive in Japan, but they cost about $550 a seat to send via Fedex. I need to get hooks ups on a shipping container.

Jay... While a number of guys on here said they were "holding their tongues", so to speak, with regard to you making this a widebody drifter, I'll chime in...
I think it would be a terrible waste of a very nice stock car. Drifting is one thing. If you like it, do it. But don't ruin another solid FD with a widebody conversion. Its your car, of course, but the widebody fad has happily faded to a very small number of people who are still watching Fast & Furious re-runs. I think its a pretty dead thing that most FD owners don't find to be a "good thing". Most people find the FD to be one of the most beautiful designs ever and there's no widebody kit that looks as good as the stock car.

As for the interior, I don't know how durable the color would be if you had it sprayed or covered in suede. I know some panels in my FD were covered in suede when I got it, and it had faded to yellow. I'm sure it looked great when it was new and black, but after I don't know how long of sitting in the sun, it was pretty horrible looking IMO.
