I just got a 3rd gen i am not a expert on 3rd gens but i am Vary Good with 1st and 2nd gens,
Here is the deal, I got the car and before i did anything i put alot of oil into the engine before i tryed to turn it over or anything. (It was sitting for a wile, 6+ Months)
After i did this i turn the engine over slowly with a ratchit and let it sit for another day, after i replaced the plugs and turn most of the oil out, It still wouldnt start, so i checked for spark, Had spark, Then i get for fuel so i sprayed some starting fuild and it fired right up and ran great, so i checked the fuel pressure. Didnt have anyfuel pressure so i found out that the fuel pump was bad. After replacing it, the car started up great when to about 3000 rpms and i tap'ed the Throttle, and the idle went to 950 and was great after about 3 mins of running i killed it. I Didnt want it to get really hot untill i changed all the hoses.
So i started out with changing the belts, Did that. After i changed the belts i cant get it to run right, it will not idle by it's self. It is giving me a check engine light (Code 2, Crank Angle Sensor). So i checked the sensors them self and both checked out good, so i then saw a wire that was loose and it came right out of the connector. Well i reconnected the wire and still getting the Code. So all i can think is that the harness is messed up. Well i am looking for a harness right now anyways (It would be good to get another one).
But the think that is frustrating is why will it still start. If the crank angel sensor is messed up why does it still have spark.
Also one other thing, when the engine is cold it will start alot easyer (But you still have to hold the gas a little) and when it is hot, you have to wait for the engine to start trying to start then hold the gas ALL THE WAY DOWN, and it will Slowly start to Climp from about 300 rpms. It will run after that with the throttle pretty good way down.
I have Check the Compression servery time with a Mod'ed Compression tester ( One that lets the gauge bouce) It is Very Good
Front Rotor 100-105psi
Rear Rotor 98-105psi
You no these are pretty close
I am very Sorry for the long post and some of the spelling, it is very late and i just got off work. If there is anything that you can think of or, you need more info on the car please post the questions.
Like i said i am trying to learn everthing i can.
P.S. I also need a Metering pump and a Ignition switch
THANKS SO MUCH
