3gen convertible?
Just met a guy here in LA who does custom conversions. He recently finished a conversion of a 3gen to convertible for a customer from Canada. It took six months and cost 10k.
See pics here http://www.rudyscustomtops.com/photo.html
I would love to have one like that. That would be so cool living by the beach and having a one of a kind convertible. The car is fast enough for me and I rather put money into something unique than spending it for power.
The best is that since it would be the second time he does the conversion the price comes down to 6k and if there would be several cars it would be even less. The entire conversion takes 3 months.
I am doing some research now and any help is appreciated.
Has anybody done this before and how turned it out? Does it effect drivability of the car? What do you guys think about this?
If anybody else is interested in a conversion contact me and lets see what price we can get.

That conversion has been done a Loooong time ago, I think it was a green FD in Australia, The pic has been posted here million times so someone might still have it.....and it looks way better than Rudy Custom Tops.....That FD looked ****** nasty with the cover on....Thats just my opinion though.....

Hate to tell you guys but Stratman conversions did a few convertible conversions to the FD in 1993, with power top and a reinforcements done to the body. They are located in CA I think.

Oh yea I love when people call my car a miata. imagine how many more people would get confused if the FD was a convertablie. Don't get me wrong I think miata's are fun to drive and usually if I meet someone that is ignerant about cars i usually tell them it's a hardtop miata anyways
