Ok I just cracked open a block and was looking at the apex seals and I noticed that all the seals were 3 pcs. Now I have only seen 1 and 2 pcs seals. So what are these?

 

seals that are supose to prevent damage if they break.some like them but most dont

 

all are split dpen the middle, with a nice 45degree edge.

 

That's a negative.

The three piece seals arent used by mazda anymore....they were *supposed* to seal better, but in my opinion they are just more fragile and prone to breaking. The current 2 piece seals used are more tolerant of abuse.
