2nd gen custom catback question for you FD guys...
Hey all, I have a unique situation: I'm running a single 3" open exhaust from the turbo back, and since I'm not really fond of the available single catbacks for the FC, I'm going to be fabricating my own. I'll be running the Racing Beat DP and Pre Silencer, but not their dual catback. My question to you is, second the to Racing Beat, what canister is generally preferred by the FD crowd? Preferrably something comparable in tone and volume to the RB setup(really don't want my car to drone, or be too loud/raspy, would like to get this right on the FIRST try!). =) Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Find the can with the largest volume possible...the larger the can the better the sound control...but if you were really after performance you should know that. Then again no muffler will get the BEST performance.
What's wrong with an N1?

Two things are wrong with the N1. A, it's designed to bolt to the stock cat, so it's not a true 3" through pipe, it bottlenecks at the cat. B, I've heard that it's really, terribly, awefully loud. I'm ditching all the cats, so ideally here I'm looking for just the canister. It's too bad RB won't sell their FD single tip canister by itself or I'd try it out on my FC. Thanks for the post though! Any other suggestions on brands?

Seriously, I would get the N1 or an N1 can and custom-make it to the piping. It might be loud (it really isn't THAT bad - much quieter than an American muffler) but you can always pop in the silencer if you need it. On long car trips and the like, I pop in the silencer, cruise in peace and quiet, and pop it out when I get there.
