2012 Official FD Calendar: Suggestions
Hi All, Do Not Post Pictures in this thread please
I'm gearing up to start the 2012 FD Calendar. 2010 and 2011 both took about 3 months of time to collect pictures, go through the voting process, and then to have the actual calendars made and ready for shipping.
This means the I'll probably start the picture collection process around September (in order to get the calendars out in time for the holidays). So stay tuned for that.
In the mean time, I'd like to hear the group's comments/suggestions for changes & additions to the 2012 calendar. I'm not saying that it's a guarantee they'll get included, but it should help make the calendar the best that it can be. So please throw your ideas in here, and if any of you see any ideas you like, go snap some pictures and submit them to the picture thread in September.
Also, if you are interested in being a sponsor, shoot me a PM and we'll work something out. Last year there were 5 sponsors, I've got room for 6 this year.
Thanks,
-Collin

My vote is for no females in the photos, I generally don't care for the ones I see on here and I'd like to hang this at work if possible. Of course, I am going to be painfully outvoted on this one I'm sure.

Haha, usually the pictures that get submitted with girls are crappy. If a good one is submitted and gets the votes then it'll get in the calendar.
No girls. The 2011 calendar that you made it is hanging on my "desk" which is in my kitchen (we have large kitchen) and I will not like to have a calendar full of skanky girls for my kids and company to see.
Besides the pictures of the girls give you false hope

Ok, no more discussion about girls or no girls please. That can be sorted out during the voting process.
The real goal of this is to get good ideas for pictures, so people can then go try to capture those kind of shots.
Here's an example. Last year I wanted to do a black and white shoot, a black car and a white car in the same shot, maybe one from the back, and one from the front, good vs. evil kind of them.

Well, unfortunately I haven't had a calendar yet so I don't know what the previous year's have been.
However, 2012 being a significant year (no, not the end of the world) it should be a rather significant calendar. Though, it depends on how you look at it. 2013 could be significant too (if you don't want to take build date into account).
As far as themes? Don't now how many FD live in the snow, but perhaps a shot corresponding to the month in which it's featured.
FDs of the world. Take 12 large cities and have the city itself be the backdrop for someone's car.
No people in the shot, unless it's a grandstand and the car is running at Laguna Seca. No one wants to see some dude next to his car in a car calendar. It's not the local fire department we're shooting for.
Make sure you have at least every stock color. It's great that you have some IBM blue, but have some heritage in the thing. Except MB...sorry but I hate that color.
The cars need to be confirmed forum members. I think it would be more fun to show off our cars instead of some over the top professional build. Keep this planted in LEO.
And I'm PMing you...

2011 calendar
I like the city backdrop idea, last year we had a great Miami shot from the guys in florida.
Also, please remember, if you have someone take the picture for you, I need the photographer give me the ok to use said picture in writing, so make sure you keep in contact with whoever is taking pictures. Last year a picture was voted in, and then I couldn't include it because the photographer wouldn't give approval.

From: near phoenix....kinda...
i was wondering will this only be of complete cars or can there maybe FD's that are being built? i would think it would depend on the quality of the picture also.
Collin... Please don't leave the girls or no girls to a poll. It will end up being girls. There is a vast preponderance of hormonally challenged here...
Let's just have it be the cars. Maybe the cars and their owners. Maybe Kobi Kobayakawa, but no girls unless they are owners.

Agree with Gordon here. Let's just focus on the hardware. I DO like the idea of important dates in the Rotary Community such as Sevenstock, Deals Gap, Carlisi event and others (if known). Also, might include Felix Wankels birthday since the dude kind of started this whole thing.
One other slight frustration with the 2011 calendar is the lack of a small calendar from the previous and coming months shown on each panel. I keep mine at work and am constantly flipping back and forth to check dates. As much as I like the idea of girls, it would keep me from posting mine at work, so my vote is no on that issue. Thanks again for all your hard work. I put the Sevenstock Calendar together a few years ago and know how much work is involved. You are to be commended!!
