2 More questions

In reading peoples posts Ive noticed a lot of people mentioning mizing their gas for they 7's, what exactly is done there, and is it manditory?

Also If I want excellent handling, is it stupid to buy a touring car, will the sunroof take that much more away from the rigidness og the chassis than the ones without a sunroof?

It's not necessary to pre-mix some oil for your gas, however some people do it as added protection for their engines.

As far as the suspension, there is more to the R1/R2's vs the Touring models than just the sun/moon roofs. The R1/R2 models have a different suspension setup (as well as a 2nd oil cooler). You can change the suspension setup on a Touring or Base model to that of a R1/R2 or better.

re: suspension

Yeah my question wasnt necessarily suspension cause I know I can change that, I was wondering if the sunroof cause a noticable loack in chassis rigidness specifically. Sorry for the mixup.

Do you want a sunroof? if so buy a touring..

A RX-7 is a better handling car than probably 95% of cars on the road.. and equal with all the rest... The sun roof will not make that big of a difference.. Just buy some strut tower braces & coil overs and the car will mop pretty much anything up on the twisties

Lol

Nicely put

I dont have a preference either way, but I was noticing r1's were hard to find and didnt want to worry about it if the sunroof wasnt an issue.

Has premixing of the gas proven to extend the life of the motor or what? (I have only heard of doing this in motorcycle engines so bear with me)

If you want to premix you should get rid of your OMP (Oil metering pump)

If you add more oil in then you will be lowering the octane of the gas & this will blow you engine..

If you run premix you can run good 2 cycle oil which which burns cleaner than dyno oil.. But unless you are running a haltech or something i do not thing it is worth it...

No problem. As stated by zyounker, even the base model of the RX-7 has better handling than most of the cars on the road.

Just decide if a sunroof is something you want or whether you want better handling out of the box from an R1/R2. There were not too many R1's made which is why they are hard to find.

Me? I love sunroofs, so I grabbed a Touring and then put the Eibach Pro-Kit springs on it. It's still not as good as the R1/R2 suspension, but for what I need it's great.

Yep, they have AC's, although I never use mine.

Take your time, finding good FD's for sale isn't always easy.

Also, Keep base models in mind.. they can be made into an R1 easly.. They are the same thing but without the spoilers & strut tower braces.. The also don't have the same seats..
