2.5k wall in 3rd and 4th

So my buddy has an FD, almost all stock, sequential turbos, yada yada.. We met up last night at a local meet and he was having some issues with the car. I jumped in the passenger seat and he took me down the street so i could see what he was talking about. Ease out 1st gear, everythings fine. Get into 2nd gear, everything still feels normal. Shift into 3rd gear above 2500 and no issues at all. So i asked him what the problem was. He slowed down in third gear till he had to downshift to 2nd. Started accelerating, then shifted into 3rd at 2k. From 2k to 2.4k everything was fine. 2.5k and it felt like someone rear ended us. The car jerked and we bounced forward in our seats. He said the same thing happens in 4th gear, unless he shifts into those gears at an rpm higher than 2.5k. These were all shifts and accelerations as if a very mature older, possibly even elderly person was driving the car. When we got to the next light he pulled a U turn and started heading back to the meet. He opened it up from there. Shifted early enough to keep the car under 2.5k when shifting into third, but he was actually applying some pressure to the pedal this time. Hit 3rd gear at 2.3k seconds later it felt like he locked up the brakes.

Now, me being an FC guy, and NA till this week, i have no real idea what could be going on in such a beautifully crafted machine like the FD. My biggest GUESS would be a FCD, but like i said.... my GUESS. So im looking to the guys who would know best. Someone help us out. Thanks

Something along these lines happened to me when i got my FD
but it was around 6k when you were hitting it hard
but for me it was the twins not synced up and boosting correctly
there was like a 1-2k gap before the second stopped spooling and
the quick decrease in power was neck breaking, thats the only thing i can think of

Wow I was looking for information on this too, my 94 is doing this in the same gears at the same rpms 3rd and 4th at 25hundread after 25hundread its fine it seems like my car restrics itself and tries to go again but stops, so I shift to a higher gear and it drives fine. A friend of mine who has had rotarys said it seemed like the car was cutting itself off of fuel, idk. Hope your friend gets his fixed and somone gives us an answer that will help us fix this problem.
