1st start in a long time

Hey guys my car has been in a million parts for a year. I am just now attempting its first start. I know its a good idea to crank the car w/o actually starting it, to let the oil get to the turbo/ fill all the lines etc. I've been searching for how to do this but haven't found it. I know you take out a fuse then just try to start her but it will only crank w/o that fuse. Can someone help me out with how to go about this. Also I don't have any manuals or anything so if you could also give the location of that fuse that would be awesome. Thanks guys...I can't wait to actually have a working rx7 again. so excited!

If you unplug the Main Fuse (120A), the engine will just turn. But it's somewhat of a PITA to disconnect. It has a 10mm screw on each side that attaches it to a cable that goes to the Battery. I'm sure there are other ways to prevent engine fire-up, but this is the way I do it.

The subject fuse box is located between the battery and the driver side fender. Here's a photo of it....

Good Luck.

just push the throttle WOT and the injectors should not fire at all. just floor it while cranking and if everything is working how it should be, it should not start.

remove the green fuse and disconnect the ignitor plug. Then crank away.. After that plug these back in and start it up.

haha i never said i was more knowledgable then you . god knows you have more experience then me haha. in anycase, i forgot to mention that you might wanna change all your fluids before doing trying to restart her after such a long time (cant hurt) or at least check the levels. also you might wanna change out your gas before hand to prevent any weirdness (haha i cant believe i used weirdness in a sentence). in anycase, both ways should work although my way takes a lot less effort :p

Good Luck with your start....very rewarding to finally get it all together...I remember getting a plug for the fpr and my hands were shaking from the excitement. Hope it works out.

someone told me to put a little transmission fluid in the sparkplug holes like a cap full with the fuse pulled the crank for a few sec. then put fuse back and lower plugs back and start

Put a little Marvel Mystery Oil down the intake manifold and in the spark plug holes, and crank the engine over by hand a few times.
