1993-1994 rearview mirror in a 1995

Just had my windshield replaced on my 1995, as I feared the new glass (from safelite) has the wider 93-94 square style mirror mount that won't accept the narrow-style mount that came on my 95. Kind of a bummer since I bought a new 1995 mirror years ago for when I did the windshield change but that is what the RX7 Marketplace is for I guess...

I read Dale's post on heating off the square mount and gluing on the compatible slim mount and I could do that, but I would rather just install a 1993-1994 mirror and be done with it. A web search seems to indicate that the 1993-1994 mirror part number is HG31-69-220C and it is still available, and that a base mount HG31-69-240 is also needed. Does anyone happen to know if these are the correct parts?

EDIT: I called Ray and asked about it, the 2 separate parts are needed and that is what I will install. Anyone needing a new or used 1995 mirror, watch the Marketplace...

I'm glad to hear that replacement windshields are actually available, honestly. Mine is original, has a star ot two, and a 1.5" vertical crack (actually looks more like a scratch, but I'm convinced it's a crack) in the very top center.
my '93 mirror does not mount to the base, so I got inve of those wide angle suction cup jobs from amazon. My car is a track car, so interior aesthetic is not quite a priority.

Off topic but I have thought about using Safelite to replace my Windshield recently. Do you mind letting me know what tint option did you go with? When going through Safelite's website it shows there are Blue, Gray and Bronze shades. I'm not sure what I have now, I would guess Gray or Blue.

Did you use a Mazda OEM windshield molding or did you let them use whatever they provided and if so, how does it compare to OEM?

I bought the blue shade/blue tint option as that was the closest with what came on my car originally. I had an OEM molding that I provided but honestly I don’t think that was necessary. There were giant spools of different moldings in the back of their van, I bet one of them would have been a good match and I could have saved $80 or so on the Mazda part.

Overall they did a good job, only negative is the mirror mount issue but that’s not their fault.
