Where did you guys mount your resistors for your 1600cc injector?

Pictures would be great.

Thanks.

i just saudered mine into the harness and wrapped them in with electrical tape, then covered with plastic flex hose. They are just resistors i didnt really see a need to figure out how to mount them somewhere.

I clipped mine and sodered it so that the lengths of the 2 wires are equal. Now i gotta clip off the old clips and soder those

like as seen in this picture, this is from kgparts.com

i wonder what the big heat shrink is for, do you have to heatshrink the whole resistor itself? can anyone verify?

Is it okay wrapping those resistors up like that since they get very hot?

I was told that those type of resistors are not good for long term use (can't handle the long term heat). I opted to use the ones from Rx7.com. They cost, but quality is a alot better. They have little heat sinks built into them, they look like tiny amplifiers.

That's what I have. I have the little gold ones with the heat sinks in them.

I don't see how wrapping them up in tape would be a good thing.

I ran heatshrink up flush with the body of the resistor so that the heatsink parts were exposed and then just tucked each pair under the corresponding fuel rail out of the way.

Well I would think the extra few dollars would be a very good investment. Especially if it helps keep motor from going boom!

mine are the heatsink kind from rx7store, look like little amps. I didnt wrap tape around the heat sink, but i wrapped the ends and then wrapped the ends to the harness so they woudlent stick out. Ive been running them like this for over 10,000 miles and havent had any related issues. Besides i doubt those resistors get as hot as other stuff under the uim.

at 100% duty cycle those resistors need to dissipate about 12-15W each. The ones rx7.com sells (http://www.ohmite.com/cgi-bin/showpa...duct=89_series) are rated 10W at room temperature free air. This is a conservative rating but as you can see its being pushed pretty hard, so I would definitely avoid doing anything that reduces their ability to shed heat in a hot engine bay, like putting them in tubing.

I would advize changing those out. I'd had problems with that style resistor in that the wires easily break off. I'd switch to the heat sink style pictured later.

Thats at 100% duty cycle, which ive never hit. Hell the injectors shouldent even be seeing any signal unless im in boost and they kick on. So for the 15 seconds it takes me to rev through all my gears up to 150mph at a max of probably 85% duty cycle then not be on boost for another amount of time where they recieve no voltage im sure im fine.

if it were a track drivin car that is constantly seeing 90%+ duty cycles it might be an issue, but for my daily driver i have full confidence in them being able to get the job done while being covered in plastic tubing.

I think the problem is, most people dont bother mounting them, lol.

Assuming your Non seq or single <from your times I'd imagine your running a single> you could probably make a small aluminum plate to mount to the bolt holes for the solenoid racks and bolt the reistors onto the plate.

I think people have mounted theirs, they're just too lazy to post pictures
