13b-rew w/ 88 TII trans.-what clutch kit?

OK here's the deal.... 3rd gen motor, 88 s4 TII transmission. Would it be better to go with the 3rd gen clutch, pressure plate? with the 3rd gen flywheel. (I know its 7lbs. lighter but what bolts up best?) or s4 / s5 clutch assembly. (I want to stick with the 3rd gen flywheel because of the lightness). please PM with replies. Thanks, Mike

You can't mix the two clutches. The 3rd gen is a pull type clutch where as the 2nd gen is a push type clutch. Therefore, just wanting to stick w/ the FD flywheel (due to lightness) is not an option.

Are you trying to install the FD motor in a FC chassis or the FC tranny in the FD chassis?

Yeah, FD motor in S4 chassis. So go all out FD clutch, flywheel and preesure? Or all TII? The reason I went TII tranny is because it bolts in to chassis so it is a more accurate way of mounting motor. I first bolted trans to FD motor then bolted trans up to chassis while just suspending motor (via jackstands)to weld in the motor mounts.
That way drive shaft and every thing else stays in line.

I have not done this swap. But my best guess, would be to just use the FD tranny along w/ the FD engine. ASSUMING that it will physically fit, you are then left w/ just the wiring and then possibly a custom driveshaft and tranny support brace. In that case, you would be able to use the FD clutch & flywheel.

I know K2RD.com has done this swap. I would suggest that you contact them and ask.

I'm pretty sure your going to want to use the TII clutch. The FD clutch is a pull type so it won't work without the FD bellhousing, slave and clutch fork.

You want to use the TII Transmission with a TII clutch. You cannot use a fd tranny in a fc because there is no way to mount it. My bud did this exact swap.

Yeah. Thats why I'm using the FC trans. But with this setup, I for sure have to use the TII flywheel too right?
