is 100k alot?
Im intrested in buying an rx-7, Im looking at a 93FD-TT and this car has 100k on it. I wanted to know if thats good or bad??? And what should I look for when I go look at the car?

Is that 100k on the stock engine? If so you're probably gonna need a new one pretty soon..but that might be a bargaining point to lower the price of the car by at least $2500-$3000. What is the price BTW?

i would say yes because... @ 100k your bearings and everything has been turning a shitload!
everything has to start wearing @ some point.. and i think thats the point...

100k is a lot, but certainly not too much. I've got 101k on mine and all of my problems are stupid details like heat shield rattling and my deflector broke loose on one side. Obviously, an older car will have more problems "per capita" than a younger car. It depends GREATLY on how well the car has been maintained up until its current state. I can't tell you whether the car is "good or bad", because I am not there to inspect and test drive the car myself. If everything checks out OK, then go for it, because I'm sure glad I did.

100k can be a lot of miles, but lets face it. You are looking for a car that's almost 10 years old. 100k miles on a 10 year old car is not that much.
However, it really depends on the car and the price. You can expect to replace quite a bit of stuff depending on what already has or hasn't been replaced.
If the car is bone stock, never been touched, you can expect to replace some older brittle hoses, suspension parts (springs and/or struts), you might have some wear and tear on the interior that needs to be repaired, body paint, etc...
Check the price of the car and get a compression test done. That will help you evaluate the car a little better.

Ohh okay, they want 12,9 for the car, I dont want to bargan that much, cause they guys giving me a good deal on my car (97 honda prelude) which is 10, when galves (what dealears use when they buy cars) is 11. My cars in okay condition, and its modded. But I might try and bargan the price down. I was looking online for the motor, and I saw one for 2600, w/ out all the belt driven parts. Is that a good deal on the motor?

You can get a Mazda reman motor, supposdly mostly new parts inside for $2200.00 or less plus the core chare of your old one. But you'd be stuck pulling the old one, switching everything over and putting the new one in. You said your car was modded so I don't know how much of a mechanic you are. Also www.kdrotary.com has some prices for motors an are semi-close probably. Also JR Rotary(I think that's the name) is in jerzee and they can do a motor swap too. You might want to check around to see what it'll cost to swap/buy a new motor before you purchase it.
12,900 sounds a bit high for a 100k FD. Did you check KBB or www.edmunds.com because edmunds said mine was worth like high 11k with 111,000 miles.

BTW, he already said he'd give you 10k for your car, I don't think even if you tried to bargain that he'd go back on his offer. Also do you know how long the car has been at this dealer? If a car sits for a while the dealer will be anxious to get rid of it and would probably come down on the price or throw in a warranty or something. That's the other thing you might check out, check to see if someway even though it has 100k on it if they can give you an extended warranty on the drivetrain and make sure it covers, engine, transmission, etc.

i don't think 12.9 is too much for a 100k FD. it really depends on the condition of the rest of the car. plus i'm in cali so everything here is a little higher.

12,900 is exactly what I paid for my 1994. It has 137K when I bought it. It was all highway miles and had a new engine put in at 120K, I have 142K now. Given the condition of the car, 12,900 was a bargain. I saw a 1993 at a dealer a week earlier for 15,900 that had 85K that was falling apart.

$8k for mine with 100kmi. Needed some small ends repaired like driver door handle, driver window, and A/C. Pulls like a champ on its original engine, though! Too bad it's an automatic, otherwise it would be perfect . Beggars can't be choosers.

The number of miles on the chassis isn't as much the issue as it is the number of miles on the engine. In your case, you had essentally 17k on a new engine. My '93 had 87k on it when I bought it. A new engine went in at 75k. So essentially I had 12k on it and that works fine.
Having 100k on the engine itself, properly maintained shouldn't be an issue..

The baked lines and shot suspension can be changed pretty easily by yourself. I don't know about the all the bushings though. Have any of you guys with high mile on your chassis had problems with the stock rubber bushings?

i got my 94 fd with 100k and recently rebuilt front end for 10,500. i cant drive it legally yet, but when i did, it sure as hell pinned my skinny *** to the seat. I was budgeting for a new engine, but i dont think i'm gonna need one, seeing as how strong it is. also, the car is stock, so chances are it wasnt beat up as much. try and knock off a grand or two, then save that for a new engine a little ways down the line if you're worried about it. good luck though man
