10-8-5 Boost FIXED

I had done the simplified vac line install and after I put it back together I would get a constant 10-8-5 boost. Before I did the job I was 10-8-5, and 10-8-10 after I let off the gas and mashed back down. I had retaken every thing off the car that involves the secondary turbo system, and finding everything to be in good working order. Fed up I when in the house to eat dinner and look on here for more solutions. On the Lighting in a world of thunder site I saw one small post about how a guy was haveing the same problem and had a specilist look at and discover that the two electical plugs for the wastegate and precontol sol's had been reversed. So I go back out to put ever thing back together and swaped the connections. Now the car run perfectly. 10-8-10 every time in every gear except 1st wich is more like 8-9-10 because its so fast. I hope this helps others looking for that gremlin in the system. I still look back at the vac diagram and scratch my head, because those being swaped just doesn't look like it'll solve the problem; yet, it did. Sorry for the long post, I was just so pissed off at not being able to find the little F**ker when everything was hooked up correctly except those two plugs... Car feels awesome since this is the first time it has really ran properly since I bought it last April.

It's such a PITA problem,..with such a simple fix! Congrats.

It should be the first thing one checks when Primary boost is normal at WOT (10psi) and the Secondary transition doesn't climb above 7 psi.

Mazda put a white dot on one of the solenoids, and the plug that goes into it, so that people would not get them mixed up. On some cars, the dot wears off, and that is where the confusion happens. Glad you got it sorted out.

Archive this for the die-hard FD owners please. Something as simple as swapped hoses or plugs show be part of trouble-shooting and a good place to start.

Wow, I have a archive request on my first thread in this section. Thats what happens when you search folks... Just trying to make a point.

If you remove you pressure tank it will be the two sol's that are right behind it and attached to the uim. Yea I have a very faint dot on one of the connecters, but a dot on both the sol's. If you look at the vac diagram, they are the two that are in the same housing that control the wastegate and precontrol actuators.

My car is about to stay in the gurage again until I get my new clutch put on later this month. The current one is pertty much at the top of the pedal, and I don't know what kind it is. Twin Plate here I come, cause I plan on having alot more done to this car and just don't see myself buying a upgraded single plate just to turn around and buy the one I need/want later.
