1/2 bridge port (search Done)

I have searched already the 1/2 bridge port.

Wait I have seen in the search was that people who have done it love it. The people who have not dicourge it for street cars.

I have the option to daily drive my car or not to daily drive the car. I will stay with twins for now. BNR stage 3, non seq. or seq. not sure which.

I would like to hear from the people that have done both a 1/2 bridge and a large street port or race port. I would also like to here about the tuning that makes these types of ports very close of far apart from each other.

The more hard facts the better. I think that this will also help others that have tried to see the differace with these ports.

Also I am looking into AI for this seeing that this seems to help save engines and help the proformace.

Thanks

You're asking for an answer to everything.

Close and far apart...
daily drive or not drive
non seq or seq
to be or not to be

Basically you just have to do some research on your own.

In my experience....

1/2 Bridge = High Idle, makes daily driving more of a pain in the ****, flows a lot more, good for high power applications... you lose torque but gain it in HP at high rpm. Idle around 13-1500rpm?

Race Port (large street port?) - similiar.. but can be streetable.. will idle depending on port around 8-1100rpm.

The larger you get the port, the more low end you'll lose.. but the more high end you gain.

You can ask around all you like.. but just search the section for people that have done all kinds of crap to their fd. Also look in the dyno section to see what ports make what kind of power.. look at power curves etc.

A large port on a friends 13B just made 490hp with a 60-1 turbo at 25psi.. turbo was maxed. Had he made it a bridge.. he may have made another 15-30hp... but don't quote me on that.. it's just a guess.

I use methanol injection as well.. it's a great mod if you're trying to cool your intake charge. But remember.. it's another part of the system that could go wrong. You have to monitor fluid lvl, make sure it's spraying when it should... what if it happens to go out and you boost without it.. ?

Advantages and disadvantages to everything. When you get around to spending $10-15000 on the car and know what you like and what you don't.. (if you decide to keep it after your first motor takes a crap) - Hell I've spent well over that and I'm still changing crap around.

I'll let you know how I like it when my 5th engine is done =P

Well I have a half bridgeport now, used to have a full bridgeport and I would reccomend against it on the sole basis of tuning. Unless you have a good tuner near you I wouldn't mess with it. It's hard to find decent maps to even break the motor in. I regret going any further than a large street port.

Thanks dhahlen for your input. It does seem like i am all over the map with what I want to do. As far as driving it daily or not that is going to depend on if I can deal with the car being finiky. I have had a 71 dat 510 with a 180 sx engine it and had to work the bugs out on that. I also had a 70 bmw 2002 that need lots of work. I drove both car 50% of the time I would drive. With the RX I love the car. It is hard for me not to drive it. At the same time if I mod the hell out of the car and see it fit to drive only for fun that that is what I will do.

I will check out the dyno pages and look at reading from differant ports. With the turbos I like the seg. but if I need to due away with the seq. becuase of there limits for the port that I will go with then so be it.

EKTwin93,

Who did you have tune you car? I plain to have Steve Kan tune my car once I have all my parts that I want. Why did you go from full bridge to half? What numbers have you seen with you set up? Also what mods do you have? All info that you can give will be great.
