02 bung size for wideband

Hey guys I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question but didn't really know where to ask. I was told that the o2 bung size for a wideband was the same bung that the stock 02 sensor uses and just wante dto confirm this before I weld one on. Thanks.

I also was wondering if it is OK to weld this bung a bit further down on the down pipe since I have the first 3/4 of the pipe wrapped in thermotec and then coated...it would be a real PITA to unwrap. Thanks

Yes and yes. Most wide band thread size are the same as the stock.
The sensor should be mounted as far down stream (before the cat) as possible to ensure long sensor life.

www.innovatemotorsports.com makes a heat shield and their kit comes with a bung for welding.

Does anyone happen to know the thread and pitch of the o2 bung...my header has an extra one for wideband, but I don't have a sensor for it, I just need to plug it with a short bolt and want to know the size I need to buy. I could go to the store and have them take an O2 sensor out of the box to match threads but don't feel like doing that.

nevermind..it's 18X1.5.

If that's funny, you can put it in your midpipe too. That will help with the heat on the sensor.
