**Auto Tranny** Wont shift Please help!!

Hi, I have a 1993 Rx7 Touring with the 4spd automatic trans.

Problem is, The car will not shift gears, It sits in 3rd gear at all times, only way to get it into 2nd is to put it in "L" and it iwll go into second. There is no 1st gear, and there is also no 4th gear. The "hold" button does not do anything at all.

Causes of the problem:

I took out the main computer to put a chip in it, after which I started, the car stalled. Once it stalled, I took it out, ordered a new computer (yes its the right one) and it still didnt work. I tried to buy a new auto tranny computer which is the piggy back one of that, and I got it. It still didnt work. I made sure that all the wires were ok and connected right, I made sure that the boxes were grounded to teh car, and still nothing. The shift light no longer works, and the fans CONSTANTLY run. I dont know what it is that I need to fix.

The fans constantly running give me an idea that its electrical issues that pester me, but im not sure. Please if you have any reasonable input at all that might help me out. Please post up and let me know.

what im saying is i reconnected it wrong, i dont know if you did, its worth an easy check though, nothing could hurt, maybe a wire popped out of the harness could happen.... they are pretty old harnesses....

Sounds like an electrical or ECU issue. The ECU that you ordered is new or used? Why did you get the chip? (for mods?) Is your original ECU broken now? Is that why you got another ECU? Have you tried resetting the ECU by clearing off any error codes? Just a few suggestions.

the auto trans will work without using the auto ecu, the dash hold light blinks but it shifts fine. do a search, alot of guys running p-fc and after market ecu's. I think you have another problem. double check the connectors to make sure they are in all the way.
